Summary
“At long last, even gods will know regret....”
Agnes Manteo now bears her father’s sentient Djao sword, along with a terrible revelation - the gods are charlatans, ancient sorcerers who draw their strength from the suffering of humanity. She and her Syraeic companions have but one duty: to track down those pretenders and end their reign of cruelty and lies, no matter the cost. To that end, the magical blade - mighty, single-minded Szaa’da’shaela - won’t allow any wavering of their commitment.
But the empire is in turmoil with the sudden passing of its undying queen. Noble houses clash and threaten civil war, murderous barbarians mass on the frontier in preparation for a bloody invasion, and all feel the aching void left by the clergy, whose temples were devastated by a great fire. Can the kingdom survive, should Agnes succeed in tearing away its very foundations? And if she fails, what might sorcerers with nearly godlike powers do to exact their revenge?
Idols Fall is the thrilling conclusion to the compelling Iconoclasts trilogy.

Satisfying tail, well closed
Felt this was a well written story and a different story. Story threads were all brought together in the end. The performance was exceptional, and the reader was just amazing. I would actually seek out books that he had read for.

A mix of fantasy and horror.
I loved this book. It blends in horror with fantasy, which is a rare combination. The characters are against impossible odds and not even sure they are doing the "right" thing. Their quest is truly epic in proportion.
My main complaint is that there are a few loose ends that are not explained or concluded fully, but that does not weaken the book significantly.

RPG JUICE!!!
I’m a tabletop roleplayer and if you are too then I guarantee you will get something very special from this trilogy-Inspiration by the bucket load. It takes an adventure party trope and does something deliciously novel (see what I did there) and gives you story that you can’t help but wish you were either playing or GMing. I don’t want to give anything away about the story apart from its awesome, but you will wish this was a game.
The world building is spot on and the reveals are so tantalising you can’t wait to find out more.
Audible’s top notch narrator Simon Vance does not disappoint (when does he ever) and if you want a listen that will get your creative juices flowing this is it!

More of the first book wanted.
A far cry from the first book. Auric was a good set character with assigned flaws but he's daughter feels sporadic. Loved the first book but couldn't wait for this one to end. Another review picked up on the change in characters to a majority female cast but it felt forced.

Patchy
Enjoyed the first two books a lot but struggled with this one. Found the main character very irritating and the story didn’t flow as well as the earlier books with unnecessary segments with hastily introduced characters. Simon Vance was good as always.
