Stressful brilliant read

His creation of the psychopath was a difficult experience to stomach . Harrowing but engrossing. The last hour is unbearable::: well done mr Koontz

5 STARS

Read this book when I was 19, now being 46 still has the same affect on me.
I am still in love with it.

Awful narration.

I read this book years ago and I enjoyed the story as much this time. It was, however, completely ruined by the dreadful narrators. Why on earth are there two narrators who both represent the same characters but, obviously, with different voice characterisations?! The story doesn’t need two narrators and it is infuriating to hear the different approaches as it makes the whole thing feel disjointed. To add further insult, some of Michael Hanson’s pronunciation is just ridiculous, even accepting the American accent. For example, ‘boosom’ instead of ‘bosom’, the ‘fra’ of ‘fragrance’ pronounced as in ‘fragment’ and his unnatural. And. Annoying. reeeeading. Good story but I’ll be avoiding these narrators in the future. Shame.

Forced mysticism

I tried very hard to understand why this book was written. Unfortunately, the book was included in the "two for the price of one" deals, so I couldn't return it, even though I discovered very early on that I didn't like the mystification of evil in the book, nor the religious elements. The worst part was that the female reader sounded as if her false teeth were loose.
OK, the good thing was that I didn't pay the full price / one credit for this.
