Summary
A spicy, sassy, and swoony fake dating romantic comedy from Amazon Charts bestselling author Jennifer Millikin.
A week on an island sounds like the stuff of beach dreams, but for Paisley Royce, it's a nightmare. Her little sister is marrying her ex-college sweetheart, and Paisley is serving as maid of honor. To add insult to injury, nobody will let Paisley forget she's single.
Bachelorette weekend changes everything when she runs into her old college frenemy, Klein Madigan.
Klein is still intelligent and funny, and somehow time has only made him more attractive.
Paisley is Klein's one that got away, not that he'd ever admit it to her. A colossal misstep (and one terrible kiss) in college sealed their fate.
Or so they thought.
Klein's an aspiring author allergic to social media. Paisley owns a digital marketing agency.
A brilliant plan is hatched: A trip across the country for a week of faking out her family in exchange for her firm marketing his work.
One hastily scrawled and signed contract on a bar napkin later, Paisley and Klein embark on a journey of tension, only one bed, and fake dating shenanigans.
Paisleys goal is to survive the week.
Klein's plan is to enjoy the sun, sand, and wedding cake.
But then there's a scorching kiss to make up for that bad one in college.
And another kiss in a lighthouse during a thunderstorm. A gentle palm on Paisleys lower back, and a reassuring hand squeeze under the table.
Everyone is convinced Klein and Paisley are the real deal, but as the week wears on, they begin to wonder if the only people they're kidding are themselves.

Amazing!
This was my first book by Jennifer Millikin but won’t be my last.
Here For The Cake is a fake dating rom-com laced with spice. It focuses on Paisley and Klein.
Paisley has agreed to be her sister’s maid of honor, however… The man she is marrying is her ex! But Paisley being the sweetheart she is gave her sister the blessing to marry her ex.
At the bachelorette party, Paisley bumps into an old frenemy from college Klein, who is now an aspiring author.
Paisley and Klein met in college, however, Paisley isn’t too fond of Klein after a big misunderstanding that happened in college. Now he has a second chance, he wants to show Paisley the man he is today.
It seems as though everyone wants to continue to point out that Paisley is still single and it is driving her crazy to get everyone off her back. They both agree to fake date each other. Paisley needs someone to tell her family she’s dating and she’s agreed to promote his writing with the help of Paisley's marketing company. But will these two be able to keep it strictly business or will the lines get blurry and what started as fake become very real?
Paisley is such a sweetheart. She has the biggest heart. She’s beautiful. She’s intelligent and she’s the type of person who puts others first and is always trying to make everyone else happy in that process, she has let others take advantage of her for their benefit because they don’t appreciate her at all. She harbours guilt that she shouldn’t and ultimately it’s herself more than anything.
Klein wasn’t perfect in college but now he’s grown up into such an amazing, handsome, witty and swoon-worthy man and he will do absolutely anything for Paisley and he does and it made my heart so happy.
This was such a fun, adorable and entertaining read. I couldn’t help but root for these two to be together. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two was intense, to say the least. I laughed and I swooned. I couldn’t put it down.
High recommend reading this!

Here for the Cake
My first book by this author, but I'm already a fan.
Such a cute, sweet and funny story.
Paisley and Klein had a drunken makeout session, met again in schools creative writing and again many years later at Paisleys sister bachelorette party/weekend.
It results in spending a week on an island together.
I really enjoyed the whole story, with great characters (I love Paisleys grandma) and a comfort factor.

Fun swoony summer read
3.5⭐️
This is a fun, summery read that contains themes of miscommunication (but no third act break up) and toxic family relationships. Jennifer Millikin is new to me, and so are the narrators. The book was narrated in duet style and I really enjoyed the narration. The narrators played off each other really well and brought out all the humour and emotions in the book.
I had mixed feelings at the start. In the first few chapters, we got unnecessarily detailed descriptions of wedding envelopes and the process of changing a keg. Thankfully, that didn’t carry on throughout the book. It also took me a while to warm up to Paisley’s “people pleaser” personality. It was really nice to see her grow as the book progressed.
I really liked Klein’s character. He’s so sweet and caring and he’s a writer, so he has a way with words. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. This book has a couple of vaguely described spicy scenes that highlighted the intimacy of the relationship developing between them. They had a bit of a misunderstanding in college, which ultimately worked out for the best and I liked how the author gradually uncovered what happened. We found out quite quickly that Klein’s been in love with Paisely since college, but the author strategically dropped crumbs about their past, through out the story, keeping us hooked and eager to find out what happened.
The thing that kept bugging me throughout the book and kept me from rating this higher, is that I couldn’t get on board with their marketing strategy. I’m not usually the type who reads and says “this would never work in real life.” But I read it and thought, “that couldn’t possibly work.” I love the fake dating trope, and this was obviously ment to be a fresh take on it, but I just wasn’t convinced.
Despite my issues with the book, I enjoyed it. The ending was particularly satisfying to read. There was character growth, disaster averted and a happy ending.

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧Delightfully Charming❣
Wow, where have I been and how is this my first book written by Jennifer Millikin? I loved everything about this book, from the author’s wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. The story is original, a unique fake dating romantic comedy, and it not only grabbed my attention right from the start, but it tugged at my heartstrings the entire time, too. Paisley Royce and Klein Madigan met in college, both were taking the same writing course, but their almost relationship was short-lived because of Klein’s actions. They never saw each other after that until now, just Paisley’s luck, she is already having a challenging time, dealing with her sister marrying her ex-boyfriend and she is stuck being her maid of honor because she does not know how to say no. Paisley still resents Klein for what he did in college, but her anger and resentment lightens up the more they talk. Klein, an aspiring author, tells her of his hate for social media and how it is holding him back from getting a publisher for his book. Paisley started her own marketing firm, one that can help him gain a social media presence and the two come up with an agreeable deal, he will be her fake boyfriend for the week of her sister’s wedding and her firm with help with his social media accounts and even spin the week in his favor as an author. It was great to watch these two navigate their fake relationship, or rather, not so fake relationship, since they still harbored unresolved feelings for each other. I thought they were great together and for each other, Klein’s support was something Paisley really needed and not just to get her through the week. This wonderfully plotted story has the perfect balance of drama, charming humor, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Jennifer Millikin, thank you for this fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue did a fabulous job bringing these characters and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting, showcasing their personality perfectly. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling each one. These two made a great narration team, both their voices and performance complimented each other. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the fantastic listen.

Love cake!
Fun! Fun! Fun! That is exactly what this book is. This is my first Jennifer Millikin book and will not be my last. Easy to listen to and it feels like I am part of the story! Paisley is not looking forward to her sister's wedding. After all, she is marrying her ex! But that does not stop her from being involved in the planning and shenanigans. At the bachelorette party, Paisley runs into a college mistake. Klein was a kiss gone wrong, making these two the best of frenemies. Klein is an aspiring author who hates anything to do with social media. With the help of Paisley's marketing company, the two hatch a fake dating plan, one that takes Klein to her sister's wedding as Paisley promotes his writing. Where does it lead? I love these characters! From the crazy family Paisley has, to the pompous ex and sweetness of Klein I was hooked and could not get enough. It flows quickly, the story is fun and has a twist I know I didn't see coming! Save a credit, you will want to grab this one!
Aaron Donahue and Hannah Chiclana tell this story and what a narration! These two were meant to perform these characters. Donahue is captivating as Klein. He gives him that warm feeling and impossible not to fall for. Chiclana is Paisley, a bit flirty, a bit hesitant and wonderfully swayed, she brings out all the feels. These two are wonderful together and were a pleasure to listen to.

Spicy, witty, and humorous!
I'm obsessed with this book! I loved everything about Paisley and Klein. These characters were interesting and the chemistry and banter between these two were *chef's kiss*. I could not stop listening to this book and I found it so delightfully funny. Millikin delivers on the spice, humor, story, comedy, and the romance of it all.
This audiobook was perfection and the narrators were phenomenal. Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue added so much value to this book and in my opinion they were the perfect choice to voice Paisley and Klein.
