About this listen
Twenty-five hundred miles in a car. All I want is a respectful driver who'll be quiet and let me lick my wounds. Instead, a disarming flirt takes the wheel and propels my life into a tailspin.
My father was supposed to be my road trip companion but abandoned me for his work. Once again. It should no longer hurt, but it does.
To add insult to injury, with his shorts and flip-flops, mussed hair, and a blindingly perfect smile, my driver is…
Annoyingly hot and far too friendly.
From the moment our gazes collide, things between us are hostile. Actually, I’m the frosty one. Tom Raine is a special kind of guy.
No matter how insufferable I am or how many times I stress he’s nothing more than my driver—most definitely not my friend—he persists in tearing down my walls.
Before long, I’m telling him my wildest wishes and darkest secrets. And it gets harder to care that our worlds couldn’t be any farther apart. Living in the spotlight, I curate images of a perfect life, while he truly makes a difference.
We should slow down or, at the very least, pump the brakes. Foolishly, we race headlong into sinfully inappropriate. I’ve never felt like this about any man. Heart aflutter and more alive than ever before. Most of all, he understands and respects me.
Tom’s the man I never wanted. He doesn’t fit into my life. But now that I’ve had him, I can’t imagine letting him go.

Leighton and Tom!
Leighton has always done what her parents have asked of her with no consideration about what would make her happy. After traveling to Los Angeles, she agreed to stay while her father concluded his business so that they could drive back to Toronto together only to find out that he has flown back and now she must travel alone as getting on an airplane is not something she is prepared to do.
Tom has recently returned from helping those less fortunate overseas so when his friend needs his help to drive Leighton to Toronto he agrees. At first glance she appears to be a pampered princess but the more he learns about her the more he wants to help her find her own happiness.
Both Leighton and Tom are at a crossroads in their life, and he gives her the strength to follow her dreams and not the future that was being planned for her. Their journey wasn’t without its setback but communication and understanding sees them through. The narrators had you feeling the anxiety the Leighton consistently had to overcome as well as Tom’s easy-going nature that allowed him to appreciate all the little things in life.

Tom❣️Best Charmer Ever❣️Great Story & Narration🎧
S.M. West pens another great addition to her “6ix Loves” series, and it is opposites attract slow burn romance that captivates your attention from start to end. Tom Raine just left a job in Africa and is doing his friend, who owns a new transport business, a favor by driving one of his clients from Los Angelos to Toronto. He did not know how difficult his client would be until he met her, but he tolerated her behavior for the sake of his friend’s company and was hoping to get it an excellent review for the company. His client, Leighton Price, the daughter of Hollywood royalty, is a spoiled brat and is not very nice. Tom should receive saint status for putting up with her, since he definitely had the patience of a saint. Hang tight, Leighton improves as the story goes on, as we learn why she is the way she is, not that it excuses her behavior, though she realizes that and apologizes for it. Her parents were no bargains either and I actually felt bad for her, because she was just a puppet, not living her own life. Tom does not meddle or tell her what she should or shouldn’t do, he lets her figure it out for herself and she realized how he sees her, and nobody saw her like he did, and nobody asked her what she wanted. This is a unique story, somewhat of a journey of self-discovery for Leighton, not an easy journey, but a worthwhile one for them both. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. S.M. West, thank you for another terrific story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, S.M. West cast the perfect narrators to bring her characters and story to life. Alex Kydd and Devra Woodward did a great job portraying the characters, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role. Kydd nailed it as Tom, grasping every aspect of his personality, his laid back demeanor, his patience and his kindness. Woodward’s take on Leighton was spot on and she too grasped all sides of her personality, from her bratty and demanding attitude to her vulnerable and caring side. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’s emotions and have you feeling each one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this terrific listen.

Opposites Attract Road Trip Romance
Falling for the Charmer by S.M. West is an opposites attract road trip romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Alex Kydd and Devra Woodward. This is the fifth book in the 6ix Loves series and can be read as a standalone.
I absolutely love Suzanne’s books because they always leave me with a smile. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Tom and Leighton. Their relationship was bit of a rollercoaster, but you couldn’t help but root for them.
Alex and Devra did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you're looking for an opposites attract romance, road trip romance, or contemporary romance.

Stand alone story, supportive to mental health
Falling for the Charmer can be read as a stand alone. It starts with the characters meeting each other, so I didn't feel like I needed to read the prior books in the series before this one. I really liked the support of mental health throughout the book. The characters are not perfect, and the story was interesting and relatively low angst.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Alex Kydd and Devra Woodward. They did a great job with the narration and I'd listen to both of them again. Their performances added dimension to the story.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Emotional slow burn
This was such an emotional story, Leighton is such a complex character. She has a lot of struggles, and she is trying to be vocal about them, and make changes, she also deals with some mental health problems. She starts off seemingly to be the “difficult, spoiled rich girl” but Tom Raine soon finds out that it’s all just a defense mechanism, and he’s slowly able to take down those walls.
Their adventure begins rocky, but they talk things out, work past the difficult things. These two have so much chemistry, the romance was great.
Devra Woodward did a great job narrating, she really brought out Leighton’s emotions and energy.
Unfortunately for me, the male narrator was a bit of a struggle for me, especially when voicing Leighton and all of the “laughs, giggles, random sounds”
The audiobook was still enjoyable

An angsty, banter-filled love story
Falling for the Charmer is a story of 2 people from very different worlds who find love, self acceptance and purpose, while stuck in a car, driving from LA to Toronto. Be ready for lots of banter, angst and swoony moments.
Leighton Price is the daughter of a famous movie director, and lives a life of luxury. For some reason, she’s terrified of flying so she ends up on a cross-country road trip with Tom Raine, her driver, who she dislikes on sight. And it turns out to be a very interesting journey.
The character growth in this story is great. In the beginning, I did not like Leighton. I don’t think anyone did. She was a stuck up rich kid with no regard for other people’s time or their feelings. When she meets Tom, she treats him appallingly, but he’s a good sport about it. He’s doing this job as a favour to his friend, who owns the chauffer company and so he tries to keep the customer happy. But as they spend more time together, he starts to call her out on her crap. We start to see the true Leighton beneath the cold exterior that she has put up. We see the struggles she faces because of the life she’s grown up in. We see her work through some of it with Tom’s help. While the story centres around Leighton’s growth, we also see Tom, who’s been feeling adrift, find something meaningful to keep him grounded.
I love how relatable this book is despite the fact that the main character is in the 1%. I could personally relate with some of her issues. I love that Leighton’s growth is not a smooth ride. Just like in real life, there are bumps along the way, hesitation, and regression while she figures out how to be the person she truly is.
The narration was great. The banter, the angst, the spice; Devra Woodward and Alex Kydd bring all of it to life with their performance.
This is a good book if you like a slow burn, opposites attract, forced proximity romance with good character growth and a bit of spice.
*I received a complimentary ALC from Home Cooked Books and this is my honest review.

Tom & Leighton
3.5 stars
This book had a great premise. This an “opposite”billionaire romance - she’s the rich entitled character whilst he’s your average Joe. But Leighton going on a car journey that is so long any sane person would just jump on a plane leaves everyone with a lot of questions. Tom is just helping a friend out but his good heart can’t help but be drawn to helping another heart in need, specially one that was hiding a lot of pain.
Despite all the little twists and the layers that were uncovered from both, Leighton & Tom were two characters I just couldn’t warm up to and the narrators did not help. I found them, quite honestly, bland and monotone.
SM West is a great author so I will keep listening to her other books.
