Summary
This is a collection of stories about children who have lived with abuse. They saw their mothers being abused. Some have been abused themselves, by their fathers, stepfathers, or their mothers' boyfriends. These children witness their mothers being abused and sometimes even worse. Some of them have gone through the courts with their mothers. Others have been forced to go into hiding with their mothers to escape their abusers, having to leave their families and friends behind because of a man. Some have had to attend their mothers' funerals. No one hears about them because their stories are never told.
Some of them have dealt with it well. While others seem to have been unable to cope. Some of them have grown stronger because of it and still others have none. A few did not survive the abuse. Some of their stories are truly horrible. Our legal system has to do something to protect these women and their children. Visitation is something that needs to be re-evaluated. Not everyone should have the right to visitation - it should be based on an individual evaluation of each and every case. Unfortunately these kids are often played by the father against the mother, because a woman's weakness is her children. And some women play the children against the father. These are their accounts of what has happened inside their homes. Let's listen this time.
