Summary

Introductory novella to the Silence Jones Action Thrillers series.

Some guardian angels lurk in the shadows.

Silence Jones is the voiceless assassin who criminals fear, the legendary equalizer who some don’t even believe is real.

As a city is ravaged by a series of arsons, Silence uncovers a chilling connection to an episode from his past - an implosion of dark circumstances that forged Silence into the shadowy avenger he is today.

To have any chance at stopping the vicious attacks, Silence will have to confront not only a ruthless enemy, but also a devastating chapter of his life he’s tried desperately to forget.

A stand-alone action thriller novella in the pulse-pounding new series. Enter the world of Silence Jones. Hold on tight....

If you like action heroes with the steely resolve of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, the calculating will of Gregg Hurwitz’s Orphan X, and the raw power of Mark Greaney’s Gray Man, then you’ll love Silence Jones.

Good

A very good novella introducing Silence Jones plenty of action and you get to understand the character for the later novels. Narrator Gary Bennet does an exceptional job.

Exciting start to a series

This book is number 0.5 in the Silence Jones series, a novella which introduces the character of Silence Jones, the voiceless assassin.

The series is new to me as is the author and the narrator but it sounded like my kind of thriller and I was eager to give it a go. I prefer audiobooks as I rarely get a chance to sit and read but as a van driver I can listen while working, walking, hiking, doing chores etc. so listening suits my needs.

The action starts straight away in this very well written story and had me hooked from the first few minutes. The story flits back and forth from today to the past, building a detailed back story for the character as it progresses. This helps the reader get into the mind of Silence Jones for his later endeavours and gives more understanding to who is is and what happened to make him who and what he is today.

The novella is listed as a stand alone thriller but I’d strongly suggest starting with this as some of the next book, book 1, will make more sense if you know the back story.

Anyway, it’s a great start to the series, an interesting and well structured main character and simply put, a great read.

As I’ve said in previous reviews a poor narrator can ruin the best of books but a good narrator can’t save a poor story. The good news is that Gary Bennett, the narrator, gives a stellar performance, giving life to the characters in his reading and is a pleasure to listen to, someone I’d be happy to see listed as the narrator in future.

A solid 5 stars all round for Deadly Silent

silence

The narration of Gary Bennett, was so spot on for this book. It has the right amount of gravel. Perfect.

This is a short listen, but has the right amount of action and is the back story, to rest of this series.

We learn about Silence , his history and why he is what he is.... hardened, but has the right on his side.
As we learn, this we have another story being played out. Corruption, blackmail.

A great listen. Recommend
