Summary

Melena Sanders faced her fair share of danger with insurgents and terrorists when she served in the U.S. Army, but now she is about to go up against a new threat. Her best friend, Aniya, has disappeared while on a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska - a supernatural haven. Most humans have no idea darker races lurk amongst them. Mel knows better. If she wants to get her friend back, she's going to have to go in alone - but not unarmed. Melena has a few special skills the Army didn't provide, but the odds are still against her. And danger likes to play it rough. A war for power is about to rise in Fairbanks, and if she wants to get Aniya back, Mel is going to have to step right into the middle of it.

New series to me - good start

Would you listen to Darkness Haunts again? Why?

I always listen twice as no the seconded listen I seem to take in much more detail

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved the dark angel - obviously love there but will wait and see.

Which character – as performed by Cris Dukehart – was your favourite?

The wolf - could understand his angst but not his loyalty to the villain

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The meeting with the young girl when she could see her own past

Any additional comments?

It was a good story and a good listen but I didn't understand why she trusted so quickly and I had difficulty with her decision at the end - why did she not see it as captivity. May listen to the next one especially if it goes on special.

Haunting Darkness

A good plot , when evil isn’t always evil but when it’s bad and trying to take over the world it’s downright manipulative and wicked . Being pressured to do things to save a friend and not knowing whether your watcher is on your side even when you think you have changed his mind . I’d like walking a type rope. Good story , great characters and well read

It was okay

The story was okay if a bit confusing but the main character was really unlikable. It was mentioned several times she had six years military training but she was clueless when it came to fighting and protecting herself, it made no sense. The narrator was very flat, so I didn't enjoy listening to it, I was close to giving up a few times which is why I am giving two stars

Disappointed

I was really looking forward to this book as it sounded promising, sadly it was a big disappointment. The main female character just doesn't make sense to me. She's supposedly she's ex-army - and would therefore have at least basic combat training - yet she is absolutely useless in fight and usually ends up easy defeated and often badly hurt. I also can't say I liked any of the male characters. They are all complete gits that are more than happy to sit back and watch bad things happen to the female lead and those she cares about even though they could help her. The narrator does an okay job, although her male voices are a little feminine.

Good narration. Not very likeable characters

I mainly enjoyed this book but none of the characters are actually very likeable! The main character, Melina, is callous, bigoted and constantly puts 'her friends' in danger or gets them killed because she just doesn't think at all about the consequences of her actions on other people. All the male characters are equally as selfish.

The narration is good and the story moves along with pace. I just don't like any of the characters enough to care what happens to them so I won't be listening to the next book in the series.
