About this listen

A woman is murdered in an empty house. Within 24 hours there is another horrific murder using the same method. The detectives soon deduce that the victims are random, but the locations are not. The killer looks for the right house - somewhere he won't be disturbed.

When a man confesses, it looks like the case is closed, but Detective Stephen Greco is unconvinced. Can he keep control when things get personal?

The series is linked by the word 'dark' and yes it is dark so much more than its companion series. Loved it - it is great working out how the team develops with each other especially when needed - I wont say more as it is a spoiler but the author pulls no punches.
I do like the narration for me it suits the story line.

Liking this series

Well written and addictive story, only after knowing the ending do the clues become apparent which is how it's supposed to be but often isn't. Well performed by Niocolas Camm who brings the characters to life.

Superb

I'd forgotten what an issue the narration was in the first book. This one was no improvement.

Good story ruined by poor narration

So...if I had listened to these before Calladine & Baylis I don't think I would've continued. The storyline is really good & Helen is a great writer..the narration though, it's just so meh.

Good story

Brutal!

I’ve grown to like this narrator. I nearly gave up on the last book as I found his narration dreadful. Jonathan Keeble who narrated the Calladine and Baylis series of books by Helen Durrant was always going to be a hard act to follow.
The characters have developed well in this book and you can feel empathy for Gecko which you couldn’t in the Calladine books. Definitely looking forward to listening to the next book now.

Brilliant

the narrative is OK, just the narrator tends to slip into whispers which is a little annoying at times.
