Summary
“Are you his willingly?” Jackson demands, his blue eyes as dark as the clouds above our heads. “Tell me. Are you?”

And for some reason this sets off a flare of intensity and...satisfaction? in Jackson’s expression. That’s it, I officially give up trying to understand any of this.
But then Jackson leans over and speaks so softly in my ear I can barely hear it above the falling rain.
“If you belonged to me, Miss Cruise, you wouldn’t look so disgusted. True ownership goes both ways. I would own you, but you’d own me, too. A concept I’m sorry to say Bryce Gentry’s never understood.”
My breath hitches and I pull back from the intimacy of his voice on my ear, only to get lost in the dark blue of his eyes.
“Let me go,” I whisper.
He does, but before he turns to go, those brooding eyes pierce me one last time. “I’ll be seeing you again soon.”
And then he turns and is gone into the rain-soaked street, leaving me behind, breathless and confused.

Great book!
The start of this series was absolutely superb. I loved all three main characters, especially Jackson. Callie is a great character who is strong and sassy and deserves a lot more than life has dealt her. Gentry is the real bad guy who eventually breaks her and she then rejects Jackson. I have already purchased the next book as I can't wait to find out what happens in the concluding book. The narration in this book is superb, her voice is great. close your eyes and listen to this book you won't be disappointed.

Cut so deep.
This is a dark, rough, and emotional listen/read. Its the first in the trilogy so you don’t quite get your HEA yet. Although this is not my normal style book i would def read the next books to see how it ends. The performance by Scott Rider and Lacy Laurel was incredible.

Ok But!!
The internal monologue from the main character is very long winded and boring and could be reduced by half and as a woman I would never let a boss do to me what Callie’s boss does to her. I get she’s trying to keep her head above water plus the fear of losing her son to his dead beat father but come on she could get him done for sexual harassment. (Moan over lol)
I really enjoy books with more character interaction and this book just doesn’t have that. Also beware the main character Callie deals with sexual abuse so if this a trigger for you don’t listen to it.

🎧Review for Audiobook Obsession 🎧
Stasia definitely knows how to write a dark, gritty, intense story of how someone who is in dire straights can be used, controlled and manipulated to their will. When trust doesn’t come easy, sense of worth has diminished and the reason, purpose to live has been torn from your life.
Lacy & Scott really made this story come to life.

Not sure
Narration was reasonably OK, but I'm not sure about the story. I liked the idea of the storyline, however the main character Callie just didn't appeal to me. She just seemed to stumble into so many terrible situations whilst proclaiming her independence and strength, with stubborn pride sabotaging herself. I get the need to fight back, but she could have fought better. She has a sad backstory which should have been emotive, but somehow didn't inspire these emotions in me. Jackson was the one positive that she could have used to help her, but didn't.
I am going to listen to the next book, because I want to see this go somewhere positive.

Dark
This book has some dark moments, but the strength the heroine presented is awe inspiring. Lacy does an excellent job with the emotional roller coaster of this heroine, and keeps you entertained throughout. The epilogue with Scott’s narrative was just as good. I can’t wait for book two to come out in audiobook format.

Cut So Deep
Cut So Deep wasn't quite what I was expecting it to be. When it started out, I thought it was going to be about a hot and kinky office romance between a boss and his personal assistant but then it went in another direction and was about a custody battle and then it got twisted and went pretty dark. It's a good start to what I expect will be an intense series. I'm looking forward to listening to the next book in this trilogy. Lacy Laurel did a great job bringing this story to life. Scott Rider did well in Epilogue II which was all he was in, but I expect we'll hear a lot more of him in Break So Soft.

Dark “Romance”
This didn’t feel like a romance, yes there is darkness and angst but the romance is barely there.
Spicy scenes are top notch of course, but the romance was missing for me.

A tantalizing dark tale
This story had everything I could want in a story. Personal struggles that are easy to relate to. A mother torn between work life and home life. A surprise hero that will make you drool. I could not get enough of this story. I never wanted it to end. Calliope is a strong woman who has just had very bad luck in life. Just when she thinks her luck is about to turn, she has to make another tough decision. Until Jackson Vale is introduced to her, Calliope is just trying to make it all work. When Jackson enters her world, her life is about to change drastically!
Lacy Laurel and Scott Rider performed this story amazingly. They brought these characters to life. Lacy narrated Calliope as I imagined her. Lacy was able to bring out the strength in Calliope as well as her insecurities. Scott has an easy to get lost in voice that made every male character swoon worthy. I hope to hear more from both of these narrators.
