About this listen

Exclusive to Audible! Listen to a discussion between the author and the narrator of Coffin Road at the end of this recording.

A man stands bewildered on a deserted beach on the Hebridean Isle of Harris. He cannot remember who he is. The only clue to his identity is a folded map of a path named the Coffin Road. He does not know where this search will take him.

A detective from Lewis sits aboard a boat, filled with doubt. DS George Gunn knows that a bludgeoned corpse has been discovered on a remote rock 20 miles offshore. He does not know if he has what it takes to uncover how and why.

A teenage girl lies in her Edinburgh bedroom, desperate to discover the truth about her scientist father’s suicide. Two years on, Karen Fleming still cannot accept that he would wilfully abandon her. She does not yet know his secret.

Coffin Road follows three perilous journeys towards one shocking truth - and the realisation that ignorance can kill us.

Gripping from the first minutes to the end.

The title of the book almost put me off reading it. It was only that I had just finished the China series and enjoyed them so much, I thought I'd give Coffin Road a listen.
The narrator is excellent as always.
The opening minutes of the story tease you into the narrative. I couldn't help but put myself into the same situation in my imagination.
As the story unfolds the interplay of characters is fascinating.
The plot twists and turns unpredictably, fast paced and difficult to put down.
I listened to it in a day and feel bereft now I've finished.

Great story, great narrator !

I've been listening to quiet a few books lately and have been disappointed in the mistakes in the plot. Not so Peter May. Right to the end a damn good story with an happy end. What more could you ask for..... Peter Forbes, a great reader that is a delight to listen to. The only criticism he will have to polish up his german accent. The german Doctor sounded like one of the characters from the Chinese mysteries but otherwise very well read.
A great read/listen.

Peter May Superb Again

Wonderful book, I love this writer. The story is really good - and without giving anything away - it is very topical and informative. Peter Forbes is sublime as the narrator, I wish all narrators were as good as him. The conversation between him and Peter May at the end is very interesting and gives one an idea of how much work goes into the reading of a book. Don't miss this one and if you haven't read his other books then you need to get them also.

Excellent

As usual these stories are interesting and well read.and give a vivid picture of Scotland . Makes a change to find there are no lurid descriptions of dead bodies. Just a good read,

Utterly Gripping

Found the story had a bit of a slow start but once I got into it, I was completely hooked. I binged listened until the end. Once of the best woven tales I have listened to of late. Very well crafted and great narration. Excellent plot also and the description of the Hebrides Isles was so compelling. Thoroughly recommend it!

Peter May never fails to delight.

At the heart of this book is a very current theme expertly handled, the science is never overwhelming and I actually learned a great deal whilst thoroughly enjoying the unfolding story.
As usual the characters are well developed with the Hebridean landscape itself a key character evocatively described. I always feel totally immersed in a Peter May book.

Peter Forbes does another great job of the narration.

Brilliant

Well narrated, entertaining and gripping. I wanted to listen more and more to find out and uncover more of the mystery. Furthermore, the story itself could almost be real with some very interesting facts and description of real places.
Would recommended!
