Increases understanding of the show

A really enjoyable book and the narrator made me feel like I was there. Not a very long book and a shame it didn't last longer as I was really enjoying it.

Intriguing storyline

Absolutely loved the performance of Karla Crome, the storyline, the drama, and the promise of more. Now with that said, this being the prequel to the new Amazon series, I am hesitant to dive into said series, as I thoroughly enjoyed the character of Tourmaline, and it appear Philo and Vignette are the main characters of the show.

Excellent performance and story.

A great back story, covering Tourmaline’s life in the event preceding the tv show. It gives us plenty of texture to the world of Carnival Row. The central plot concerns the relationship between Tourmaline and Vignette during their time at university, whilst the oncoming war grows in the background.
The performance by Karla Crome is truly excellent.

A well thought out prequel.

Karla Crome bought this story to life. Her wonderfully characterful voices were great. It was great to the story from an earlier perspective.

Beautiful backstory.

This is a great complement to Carnival Row on Amazon Prime providing details of a relationship and backstory hinted at but not elaborated upon in the show. Well written and perfectly narrated it really adds depth and pathos to the two main characters featured as well as standing as a beautiful story in its’ own right.
