Summary

A peaceful kingdom under threat. Can one girl find the courage to save her family and two worlds?

Sixteen-year-old Azi Hammerfel has finally achieved her dream. Inducted as a squire into her parents’ honored guild of knights, she’s excited to set out on her first quest for the king. But when she isn’t chosen and her father returns badly injured without her mother, the young apprentice is shocked to discover herself stuck by a curse.

Unable to even raise a sword without experiencing excruciating pain, Azi despairs at her mom’s disappearance. But after a fairy appears with a dire warning for the realm and begs for her assistance, the brave teen journeys forth towards a destiny that will put her in the path of a sinister sorcerer.

Can Azi stop two lands from falling to a deadly darkness?

Call Of Kythshire comes alive!

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I don't listen to audio often so it took me a short while to warm up to Penny's voice (more so because I have read all 5 books and have my own versions of them).

A few chapters in and you can feel the story come alive. Penny has executed the pronunciations of people and places well and gives each character their own flare with her voices for them....Penny relit the fire and love I have for certain parts of the books. Like Rian's Mage "Test" so fun to kisten too. Flitt's Voice is 😍 she makes me chuckle and my heart warms each time she comes on. I might be listening to a book but my head is playing a mini movie. I can't wait for the next book to be available.

Whether you have read the books or are new to the world Missy has created, you won't be dissapointed. A world filled with Knights, Mages, Fairies, Curses, Friendships, Love and Adventure 🤩

A brand new mystical world of adventure to explore

As the review title suggests, this isn't just a one-off story that will fade into a distant memory once read. Rather, it is the beginning of a new Tolkienesque world of magic and wonder that can be added to and is filled with weird and wonderful characters that beguile and entrance the reader/listener, leaving them waiting to see what happens in the next tale.

In the first couple of chapters, I couldn't get over the high-pitched voice of the narrator but as the story goes on, it makes complete sense, and eventually, you realize it's actually perfect! Fairies, wizards, good king, bewitched princes, bad guys, good guys and every ingredient necessary for a good fantasy tale are all present and correct.

Missy tips her hat towards Tolkein, Eddings and other fantasy authors whilst retaining her own identity with a unique world and I can't wait to read the second installment!
