Summary
Jess Aarons has been practicing all summer so he can be the fastest runner in the fifth grade. And he almost is, until the new girl in school, Leslie Burke, outpaces him. The two become fast friends and spend most days in the woods behind Leslie's house, where they invent an enchanted land called Terabithia. One morning, Leslie goes to Terabithia without Jess and a tragedy occurs. It will take the love of his family and the strength that Leslie has given him for Jess to be able to deal with his grief.

Good Listen
I had not read this before - I like the setting and all the implied circumstances of Jesse's life. The depiction of his dissociation late in the story is really beautifully done and feels very realistic. I wish I had been able to read this when I was a young teen.
The narration by Richard Armitage brings life to the story - he manages the child's voices well, and there are quite a few to depict and distinguish from one another. It was affecting without being too overwhelming - in deference to the audience the story is aimed at, I guess.

Very moving story
An amazing tale of growing up and coming to terms with what life throws at you. Very moving and funny in places. An excellently read tale.

Another Armitage Storytelling Masterclass
This is a very touching, thought-provoking, emotional story, and beautifully written. I think most people will personally relate to at least some aspect of this story.
Richard Armitage narrates it, as always, with complete mastery, bringing to life a whole community of people of very different ages and types - every one of them totally believable. He transports us, with obvious delight, utterly into the magical Kingdom of Terabithia and likewise into the hero's childhood; this is often a grim reality, but includes a number of uplifting experiences that leave us with at least some optimism.
This is much shorter than most audiobooks, but well worth the credit it cost me, and I highly recommend it.
Although it is a story principally about children, I wouldn't think the subject matter at all suitable for young children, as it is quite disturbing in places, particularly towards the end.

adore this book
theres a twist that had me gasping outloud i ddnt see it coming although theres clues. loved it. i also resonated so much with Jess hes just a likeable guy.
