Interesting facts
I'm 12, I got this audio book for a thirty day free trial and finished it within three days. I've learnt a lot about Roald Dahls life and its sad to hear about beatings and everything bad about schools in those days.I also respect his mother, who by what she has done in this audio book is a very good person who I would love to have as a mother (although mine is still alright, lol jk :)

Outstanding story telling and narration
I first read this many years ago. Having now listened to the story of his early life, it is no surprise that his books have engaged children and adults alike for decades. He has a way with words - such clarity and vision conveyed without a wasted word. Dan Stevens' narration was perfectly pitched.
I didn't want it to end and can't wait to listen to Going Solo. I've read it before but, like Boy, I would bet it hasn't lost its shine either.

Enjoyed this immensely
Dan Stevens is to the narration of RD's books what Quentin Blake is to the illustrations of them. His performance was absolutely perfect at conjuring up the various characters in one's mind's eye. I dearly wish this book was ten times longer!
