Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

With an exclusive audio foreword from Pandora Sykes, author of How Do We Know We're Doing It Right.

One truth I have learnt, as middle age enmeshes me like Virginia creeper, is that I shall never change - because my capacity for self-improvement is absolutely nil.’

A classic collection of journalism from the legendary Jilly Cooper, narrated by Pandora Sykes. Wonderfully warm and astonishingly acerbic, Jilly’s observations from her days as a much-loved newspaper columnist cover everything on sex, socialising and survival - from marriage and friendship; the minutiae of family life and the tedium of going to visit people for the weekend; to the stress of hosting dinner parties and the descent of middle age.

Entertaining and full of heart, join Jilly in Between the Covers to explore the very highs and lows of everyday life.

Even better than her novels.

Very clever and funny. Without being unkind, life of a British writer in the past with dinner things changing, and some staying the same. I will listen to this again.

Loved this

Hadn’t read one of Marian’s books forever. Really loved the twists and turns in plot. Helped me live vicariously. Perfect way to pass time. Going back for more.

Great fun

Great collection of Jilly's articles written with such humour and still relevant in today's world. I just wish there had been more, as the overall book is pretty short. Also, with Jilly's history of novels, I was hoping for a couple of rude extracts.

Disappointing

Never realised what an enormous snob cooper is. She likes to portray herself as someone who is incapable of any mundane chore and ‘terribly jolly hockey sticks’. The chapter about the bird watchers was cringingly sad in her portrayal of the people on a birdwatching holiday. It made me wonder what she said about me after our similar meeting a few years ago.
