Summary
She was the first rule I ever broke. She’ll be the last.
In the beginning, there was Savannah Shaw. Teasing me with a mischievous, merciless grin by day. Crawling through my window with tear-stained cheeks by night.
I was ordered to avoid her. Lectured on her misdeeds. Forbidden from seeing her. But my need to protect her was innate. So natural I never questioned it. So visceral I couldn’t fight it.
She was the first rule I ever broke, and it’s why I lost her the first time.
Now, out of nowhere, there is Sav Loveless. World famous frontwoman for The Hometown Heartless, Hollywood’s newest up-and-coming film star, and my daughter’s idol.
Her reputation for trouble precedes her, but the celebrity who sets foot in my small town is no longer a girl in need of protection. She’s a woman who has saved herself, and this time, it’s my life that’s falling apart.
Maintaining the distance between us is imperative, but everything about her pulls at every part of me. My need to touch her clouds my logic. My need to have her, to own her, to love her.
She’ll be the last rule I ever break, but this time, it will be to keep her.

So in love with Levi!
When I sit down to read/listen to a Brit Benson novel, I am never left the same! She creates her stories with amazing characters, rollercoaster rides of emotions, and all the angst a fan could ask for. And 𝑩𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 is absolutely no exception.
I absolutely loved Savannah and Levi. I loved their chemistry, their banter annd all the angst between them. Their story has a lot going on but it's needed. It's needed to let the reader know about their past, about their present. I loved the way 𝙱𝚛𝚒𝚝 𝙱𝚎𝚗𝚜𝚘𝚗 created them and created their story.
And let's talk about the narrators. 𝙹𝚊𝚌𝚘𝚋 𝙼𝚘𝚛𝚐𝚊𝚗 was perfection at bringing Levi to life. His voice is absolutely smooth & addicting & he truly puts all his emotions into bringing the character to life. 𝙰𝚗𝚐𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚊 𝚁𝚘𝚌𝚌𝚊 is a truly talented narrator & she made Savannah blossom as she brought her to life. Each moment of trouble, each moment of happiness, that Savannah went through was felt through the voice of 𝙰𝚗𝚐𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚊 𝚁𝚘𝚌𝚌𝚊. These two narrators together was a perfect pairing and I couldn't get enough!
Though this story left me wanting, no, 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, more, I couldn't get enough. The emotional journey, the passion, the twists & turns, all make this an addictive story and I definitely recommend it!

New author for me and I loved it.
I’d never read or listened to anything by this author before but given the reviews I thought I’d dive in. It’s very dramatic and angsty and basically anything that could happen does, which makes it a bit soap operish, but I was in the mood for something like that so I loved it. Both main characters are seriously flawed, and don’t always do the right thing, or the thing that you might want them to do. They both make bad choices, partly lead by their upbringings and partly lead by what cards life deals them.
There are three parts to the story, teenage Levi and Sav; both abused in different ways, friends despite their differences, he desperately wants to help her. She wants him to let her be. She leaves town they don’t see other for 3 years.
18 year old Sav and Levi, she’s just about to get her big break, he’s in college having escaped his parents, then something happens to break them apart and they don’t see each other for 8 years.
8 years later they meet again, they are both very different from the children they once were, but also the same! Life has dealt them a mixed bag of cards. They are still drawn to each other, can they make it this time?
There are twists and turns and surprises along the way. Things aren’t always what they might seem. Levi is possessive, alpha which a bit of a hero complex. Sav is chaos, damaged, independent and streetwise. She’s at the same time childish and older than her years. There is dramarama galore, angst, dilemmas and a lot of grey. Nothing is black and white. For each there is his story, her story and then the truth.
The one thing that I didn’t like about this book was the author’s overuse of coincidence and happenstance to bring them back together both times. It was contrived and overdone and I would have preferred it if a different device was used. However it didn’t stop me loving the characters and the story.
Its narrators were great. Jacob Morgan is my most favourite male narrator, best in the business (fight me!) and Angelina Rocco was new to me but I loved her voice. Shes definitely now a firm favourite.
If you like your angst and drama a bit overdone, and your characters to live in the grey then this is definitely one for you.

Levi and Sav! 💕 4.5 Stars!
Savannah Shaw (Sav) and Levi Copper are childhood besties. Their story is told in two parts. The First Part is when they were between ages 15-18. They both have had hard childhoods that leads them to lean on each other. When Sav runs away from home and their hometown, they don’t think they will see each other ever again. But just like they keep reminding each other, “the universe is not done with them yet.” And they happen to run into each other again. Years later, in Part Two of the book, Sav is now a famous rockstar filming her debut film, and Levi is the architect who built the set for the movie she is on, and they have to reconcile their relationship and feelings for each other. As well as work through so much in their individual lives.
This book was good. It was entertaining. It was emotional. The connection was strong and their friendship and relationship very believable. I was also invested in the look into their lives outside of the relationship and all the twists and turns that came with it. Overall, I really enjoyed this story.
Featuring duet narration by Jacob Morgan and Angelina Rocca, the narration was fire! 🔥 Morgan and Rocca were the perfect duo to bring to life these characters! They were truly exceptionally! They really drew me into the story. The emotions were there for sure. Morgan was excellent as the sweet, but protective Levi. And Rocca did great as the rebellious, yet resilient Savannah. Another random thing I liked about the narration was when Rocca sang some of Sav’s lyrics throughout the book. Overall, an amazing way to experience this story. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Story & Listen🎧Enthralling & Heartfelt!
Brit Benson blows me away with another amazing romance novel, a romance like no other and I loved everything about it, from her wonderful writing style to the characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. Savannah Shaw and Levi Cooper were childhood friends from different sides of the track. He grew up in a very religious home and his father was a pastor. She grew up in a broken home with a mother who was high and/or drunk most of the time and was controlled by her lowlife boyfriend who enabled her. Levi wanted his family to help Savannah, but they never did, so he took the matter into his own hands and reported them, which made matters worse for Savannah. Sav was going to stick it out until her eighteenth birthday, but it got too bad for her to handle, and she ran away. She goes to say goodbye to Levi before leaving and they were each other’s first kiss. It was a goodbye for now because the universe was not done with them yet. The next time they meet up, he is a college student, and she was dancing in a club while doing gigs on the side. The chemistry between them was stronger than ever and they spend some time together before they have to go their own ways again. She had her reasons for not wanting to pursue a relationship with him or to keep in touch. Once again the universe was not done with them and years later they meet again, and their lives have not been all rainbows and sunshine despite Savannah being the front of a popular rock band and he is building up his own business. One of his greatest accomplishments was his daughter, Brynn, who was absolutely adorable and the boss of all. She was also a huge fan of Sav and her band “The Hometown Heartless”. Benson puts these characters thru the wringer and takes you on their journey, which is an emotional rollercoaster ride. The world building, characters growth and development is fantastic and so is the complexity of the story and how she weaves everything all together. The drama is non-stop, angst is high, and the twists and turns are amazing and the chemistry and romance is smoking hot. I loved how Brynn lightened up even the heaviest of moments, she was a scene stealer and a rockstar in her own rights. Brit Benson, thank you for another entertaining and enthralling story, I could not stop listening to it. I hope there is more to come out of this amazing world that you created.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, Jacob Morgan and Angelina Rocca are the perfect cast to bring Brit Benson’s characters and story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, giving each a voice that was fitting, sounding believable and just as I pictured them to sound. Morgan’s Levi was spot on, grasping every aspect of his personality, and Rocca did the same for Savannah. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters, including Brynn. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions having you feeling every single one. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and their talent enhances this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Messy, angsty romance with stellar narration.
HOLY MOLY, PEOPLE! This book. THIS BOOK! This love story is messy, super angsty, and will destr0y you over and over again. It is PERFECTION! Add to that fantastic voice acting and singing (from Angelina), and you have a top pick from my 2024 reads.
I could go on and on about this one, but honestly, you just need to experience it.
I love stories where the main characters make real choices that often aren’t the hearts-and-flowers romance others crave. Sav and Levi are childhood friends who are pushed apart and drawn back together again. This is as authentic as you get.
The intricate nature of their backstories and their lived experiences is a masterclass in writing romance that makes you feel.
Brit is a new author to me, and I can’t wait to dive into more of her books. I’m not sure why it took me so long to start, but this most definitely isn’t the end.
Download it today, buckle up, and brace for impact.

Small Town Rock Star Romance!
Between Never and Forever is part of The Hometown Heartless, a small town rock star romance. Levi and Sav's story is intense, and emotional, filled with angst, ups and downs, passion, and twists and turns. The characters are well developed. This is a beautiful second chance romance. Angelina Rocca and Jacob Morgan did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I loved the extended epilogue.

Love their chaos 💕
Sav and Levi's story had me wrapped up from the start. Their friendship and the rollercoaster of emotions they experienced together kept me hooked. Levi is a perfect blend of a southern gentleman, protector, and dominator, and his love for those around him, especially Sav, was heartwarming. The steamy scenes were 🥵, and the unexpected twists towards the end had me on the edge of my seat.
I absolutely loved the audiobook version of this story. Jacob and Angelina, the narrators, were absolute rockstars! I freaking loved the duet style!! Kudos to them for their incredible performances!

Savannah and Levi
What a journey for Savannah and Levi , they definitely dealt with a lot especially Savannah. My heart broke so many times for her , she just couldn’t catch a break and her ride from then to now was definitely a bumpy one. I’m very happy that she turned out to be a strong character and tries to turn back her life around and she works hard to get there. She had the biggest character development in the story for me between the main characters. I enjoyed how she turned out.
Levi’s character surprised me as the chapters went by, he has definitely changed in comparison to the beginning of the book. Brynn is a great addition to the story and I enjoyed how she was so mature for her age and the name everyone addressed her by was cute. Ziggy is so adorable and she stood out in quite a few of the scenes. I liked Red’s character and how he was always protective of Savannah.
This was a beautifully written book and it was filled with such raw emotions and tragic moments. There were some plot twists that made it even more compelling to read. I did not want the story to end as it wonderfully detailed the feelings of these characters and created an epic endgame for them. The epilogue was great but omg that extended epilogue was amazing I couldn’t stop smiling. The audio was really great , the narration was good and relayed the story well.

Sav and Levi!
As a teenager Sav was just trying to bide her time until she could escape her destructive situation at home and to make things worse she was looked down on by everyone in town except for Levi. He was her solace however his need to help backfired which forced them apart and even though they were brought together three years later it wasn’t meant to be.
Eight years later Levi is a single father when Sav returns to their hometown, and she is a successful musician but she is still fighting the demons of her past. With so much hurt and so much pain between them he believed that keeps his distance was the right choice however fate and his daughter had other plans.
Sav and Levi take us on an emotional and angst filled journey both when it comes to their pasts when they were together and apart. The soulful portrayal by the narrators will have you feeling every emotion and invested in their story.
