About this listen

Audie Award Winner • Earphones Award Winner • Best of 2016 Science Fiction Audiobook

Battlefield Earth is an enormous epic of adventure set in the year 3000, when the future survival of what's left of the human race is at stake. When Jonnie Goodboy Tyler decides to venture out of the small and dwindling community of humans barely surviving in their Rocky Mountain retreat, he has no thought of challenging the order that for a thousand years has held the earth prisoner to the oppressive alien race of the Psychlos.

The Psychlos and their vast intergalactic mining corporation have dominated and exploited all known galaxies for centuries, ruthlessly destroying races who dare to resist. How one man - with the aid of a few surviving Scotsmen—tackles the greatest malignant power in the universe makes for a sprawling adventure of thrilling heroics, full of dangerous underground work, interplanetary wars, intergalactic financial intrigue, monster races, and complex political manipulation spread across a vast canvas of epic scale.

Excellent, so much better than the film!

I watched the film with John Travolta & Forest Whitaker playing the parts of Terl & Ker. The film was a far shorter, and although I enjoyed the film, the book goes into great detail and depth, giving the story a much more conclusive ending.

A Fantastic Journey .... But so American!

As a writer R.L Hubbard deserves considerably acknowledgement, and polishes his crown with this masterpiece.

huge sci-fi dramatisation

I really enjoyed the ups and downs of this book ,lots of twists and turns . plenty of action and back story. can sometimes get a little lost with the amount of alien races envolved towards the end but I really enjoyed it .
yes the chapter ending audio can get a little annoying but not a big no no ,for a 40+hrs book I was left wanting a little more at the end which I wasn't expecting
worth the credit !!!

okay, but irritating.

This book goes on and on.
I quite like the story, but my biggest bugbear is the narrator.
It sounds like every time he labels something, he is doing the verbal equivalent of "air quotes.''
It gets quite annoying after a while.
The Scottish accents are a travesty,

Fantastic audio cover

I really liked the sound effects and narrations.
The story sometimes funnily Hollywoody, but kept me interested all along. All in all, much better than expected.

Next level audio, long but worth every minute.

I read this book over ten years ago and listening to it now was 10 times better. Can’t recommend it enough for true science fiction human storytelling. I hope to find another book with a production like this.
