About this listen
9 AM EST: A senator shoots himself on national television.
10:32 AM EST: An entire floor of government agents leap to their death from their office building.
12:57 PM EST: All the police officers inside a station murder each other.
And the day has just begun.
Lieutenant Asher Benson left Iraq with a traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and a Purple Heart. His doctors warned that the symptoms would be life altering. They had no idea. As his body healed, the thoughts of those around him began to echo through Ash's mind, stretching the boundaries of his sanity.
Five years later, Ash is drowning the voices with copious amounts of booze and self-loathing.
When unidentified intelligence agents abduct him in broad daylight, Ash is thrust into a world of espionage and assassinations. A unique terrorist is operating on U.S. soil, and the government needs Ash, and the malady that has plagued him for half a decade, to find the killer.

Really enjoyable and very funny thriller
I really enjoyed this action packed thriller, the humour and one liners made me laugh so many times. The narration was excellent and it made a nice change to actually have sound effects and music which enhanced the whole experience. I recommend this audiobook to everyone.

Began well
This began well but the last few hours lost me almost to the point of a DNF. The tension was repeatedly diffused by silly one-liners. At one point during a tense moment the MC stopped to help an old lady. If that wasn't bad enough they went on to have an unimportant exchange (about the MC's mode of dress). In addition, the MC collected wounds like they were stamps but still managed to 'soldier on' to a point beyond ridiculousness.
Overall the narration was good, but the sound effects (e.g., chapter music, gun fire etc) was reminiscent of a trashy play.

Blown most of my recent listens out of the water !
How silly I've been! I've had this audiobook for a while. One of those titles I've always intended to listen to but it kept getting shoved down the list whenever a big name book or one of my other faves came along. Well, this book has blown most of my recent listens out of the water ! Brilliantly ( and quite theatrically) staged and narrated. The story was good , the humour hit me so I was actually laughing aloud which is something I NEVER do in public to something no-one else can hear, lol. Thoroughly enjoyable and one of snarky comments I ended up writing down to use myself sometime !
I loved this, great characters, good story, good pace of action, brilliant narrator, well staged and performed. I've found my next Audible series to binge on!
I'm actively seeking out more from this author and this narrator.
