Summary

The stunning conclusion to the trilogy that began with the Hugo, Nebula, and Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning Ancillary Justice.

For just a moment, things seem to be under control for the soldier known as Breq. Then a search of Atheok Station's slums turns up someone who shouldn't exist - someone who might be an ancillary from a ship that's been hiding beyond the empire's reach for three thousand years.

In the meantime, a messenger from the alien and mysterious Presger empire arrives, as does Breq's enemy, the divided and quite possibly insane Anaander Mianaai - ruler of an empire that's at war with itself.

Anaander is heavily armed and extremely unhappy with Breq. She could take her ship and crew and flee, but that would leave everyone at Athoek in terrible danger. Breq has a desperate plan. The odds aren't good, but that's never stopped her before.

5* Science Fiction

This is standout SF read by a standout narrator -- a pure pleasure throughout the trilogy.

A fascinating series with spectacular narration.

Absolutely loved this series. It is very different from your usual Sci fi but all the better for it. A very well fleshed out universe with a great cast of characters, but the highlight is the narration by Adjoa Andoh. A brilliant performance that brings the whole series to life.

Story so well suited to its narrator

And amazing and curious finish to a world that setting that I adore!
it's exactly what the series needed and to say the narrator is suited to the roll does he a disservice.

A good round off to a Trilogy

An interesting and thoughtful round off to a trilogy that leaves a fully formed, but not fully known, universe to explore.

The perfect conclusion (no spoilers) for me.

Loved this trilogy. The performance was again outstanding, probably the best narrator on Audible. The conclusion was amazing and touched on some very timely issues I suspect we as a civilization will have to grapple with ourselves not far from now.

Happy Listening!

I wish there were more!

I've listened to this series at least four times. I love the story, I love the characters and I love the narration.

Going to miss them all.

So so so sad it is over. It did not take long. I purchased extra credits which I used up on the trilogy and have binged it all. Adjoa Andoh is such an amazing narrator. Am now going to search for other books she has narrated.

Finally got the gender blindness?

Book 3 brings the story back more into the realm of SciFi, still with plenty of slavery analogies, but with plot moves and some intrigue. By this stage, the mild annoyance with the unrealistic gender blindness had dissipated and it didn’t seem to matter what gender the characters were - if that was the whole point, then well done Ann Leckie!

brilliant in every way

with all three books and especially this last one, i really tried hard to ration myself. The more I read, the less I had to look forward to.
Characters and plot were excellent and the reader was superb. Friends who regard audio books with a certain distaste will never know the force and depth that a reader like Adjoa Andoh brings to the text.

All in all a month or so of absolute pleasure.
