Summary
On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked into Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Over the course of minutes, they would kill 12 students and a teacher and wound 24 others before taking their own lives.
For the last 16 years, Sue Klebold, Dylan's mother, has lived with the indescribable grief and shame of that day. How could her child, the promising young man she had loved and raised, be responsible for such horror? And how, as his mother, had she not known something was wrong? Were there subtle signs she had missed? What, if anything, could she have done differently?
These are questions that Klebold has grappled with every day since the Columbine tragedy. Incredibly enlightening
Beautifully narrated by Sue Klebold herself, she gives an insight into the tragic events that unfolded. It also gives one a renewed sense of purpose. There's a powerful message about brain and mental health, and it is nice to know that "All author profits from the book will be donated to research and to charitable organizations focusing on mental health issues." In a time where media frenzy and mass murder has become a source of pop culture, this reading is sensitive and fair. It's reflective and honest and no doubt was incredibly difficult to write, let alone come to terms with. Her vulnerability has shown enormous strength. It's dark, haunting and will leave a life-lasting impression.

Seeringly honest. Achingly tough.
I loved it. The subject matter is etched into my memory. I know we should not name the perpetrators but Sue had to tell her story.

heartbreaking
Sue Klebold is absolutely inspiring. I spent much of this book crying and empathizing with her pain. brilliantly written and loved that she was the narrator.

Brilliant!

Fascinating and sad
I had not known much about the background of the people and their families involved in the Columbine Massacre. Sue Kelbold's account of her upbringing of Dylan and her experience in the aftermath of the shooting is fascinating and dignified whilst being in-depth. Her sorrow for the loss of her son and those who died or were injured by him and his friend Eric Harris is palpable. Her sadness at uncovering Dylan's depression and suicidal ideation comes clearly through the text. I wish her luck in her recovery

The wait for this book was well worth
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Mother's Reckoning?
I think for me one of the most memorable moments was Sue's telling of the day of the massacre from her point of view and how she and her family went through the day.
