About this listen
THE EPIC CONCLUSION TO THE #1 SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING ELEMENTS OF CADENCE DUOLOGY
The stunning sequel to A River Enchanted finds the human and faerie realms threatened by an immortal enemy whose defeat can only come through fire, song, and heartrending sacrifice.
East and west. Humans and spirits.
The tenuous balance of the Isle of Cadence is under threat from Bane, the spirit of the north wind.
In the west, Adaira struggles to find her place. And, though magic blooms there, the spirits suffer beneath Bane’s harsh power, felt in every gust of wind.
In the east, Jack Tamerlaine is adrift without Adaira, until he acquires a mission destined to lead him back to her. But among the Tamerlaines sickness is spreading and Torin desperately strikes a bargain with the spirits – a folly at any time.
With their very land at risk, all will need to join together to confront Bane. Yet none can challenge the north wind without paying a terrible price, and the sacrifice required may be more than they can bear…

Loved it
I listened to "A River Enchanted " through my public library eaudio service and absolutely loved it. But sadly they did not have the conclusion so I used a credit on this. And loved it just as much. It gave me Juliet Marillier vibes (an author I adore). I loved the characters, the plot, the conclusion.

Outstanding Storytelling and Superlative Narration!
An absolutely gem of a story, beautifully woven and laced with magic, intrigue, adventure, sizzling romance - but at its heart, human connection and the characters relationships with each other and with the natural world - and the mystical, elemental spirits that govern those elemental aspects of the mortal world. The story is well thought out, with excellent world building and robustly fleshed out, believable characters, and the pace is spot on. There is none of the usual predictability of obvious twists and cliffhangers, and the story has a satisfying conclusion, neatly trying up all loose ends.
In terms of the narration, Ruth Urquhart does a fantastic job of really bringing the story to life, and creating distinctive, properly differentiated characters with the magic of her voice and superlative acting skills.
I am also a fantasy novelist and it is, unsurprisingly, my favourite genre - particularly anything involving magic. This dualogy by Rebecca Ross has really blown me away, so if you want a compelling and immersive dose of escapism, then I highly recommend a stay in the magical isle of Cadence!

A beautiful tale, well read.
I love this story. Yes, it's a tale as old as time - love conquering a great divide. But it had me I invested in the characters from the start and I truly didn't see the twist coming. I can't wait for more books from Rebecca Ross!
