Summary

Every harvest moon, the Witch Collector rides into our valley and leads one of us to the home of the immortal Frost King, to remain forever.

Today is that day—Collecting Day.

But he will not come for me. I, Raina Bloodgood, have lived in this village for twenty-four years, and for all that time he has passed me by.

His mistake.

Raina Bloodgood has one desire: kill the Frost King and the Witch Collector who stole her sister. On Collecting Day, she means to exact murderous revenge, but a more sinister threat sets fire to her world. Rising from the ashes is the Collector, Alexus Thibault, the man she vowed to slay and the only person who can help save her sister.

Thrust into an age-old story of ice, fire, and ancient gods, Raina must abandon vengeance and aid the Witch Collector or let their empire—and her sister—fall into enemy hands. But the lines between good and evil blur, and Raina has more to lose than she imagined. What is she to do when the Witch Collector is no longer the villain who stole her sister, but the hero who's stealing her heart?

A good pace

A good listen which has a good pace, keeps you listening. I found the male narrator pertubing, rather hammy and doing a, strange accent, I think he mustn't be native English. Thankfully the female narrator takes the lions share.

you know this was another surprise

I loved this I loved the heroine great world building lots of action, magic it was surprisingly captivating. the only character I thought was a bit of a dumbo was the actual frost king he just kept throwing himself to where ever the "badie" wanted to take him instead of fighting he would always goad the bad guy then just when you think he could be saved here if he shut up along he goes and offers himself up🤦🏻‍♀️ the heroine held onto him at one point and off he goes letting go. He did my head in a bit lol. But apart from that this was a brilliant listen highly recommend if you love fantasy adventure romance

I really enjoyed this one. however the love interest does need to be saved, far too many times by the female lead. lol . will be reading the next one.

Loved it

Great chemistry, great worldbuilding. Imaginative story. Loved the narration too. Definitely worth listening, even if you have read a lot of fantasy. It’s different enough. Love the concept of the threads and weaving.

A slow burn but gets good

I really enjoyed this book the beginning is a bit slow but really picks up in the second part. the voice actors portrayed each character well. I liked how the chapters were short but also gave which perspective the passage was written from. I am eager to get on to the next book!

Great overall

The story, writing and performance is 10/10.

However, I did not enjoy the way that the Prince of the East was presented. The voice was too gravely in a way. It was quite difficult to understand what the voice actress was saying coz her performance was so gravely (as mentioned above). Other than that it was really enjoyable

I liked it more than I thought I would :)

Very interesting magic & was different to a lot of fantasy stories currently out there so that was refreshing! I can’t say I fell in love with the 2 main characters but their story is sweet & wholesome! I will definitely read the next book now…
