About this listen

Perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and Uprooted, this stand-alone, fantasy romance about a human girl and her marriage to the Elf King is impossible to put down!

The elves come for two things: war and wives. In both cases, they come for death.

Three-thousand years ago, humans were hunted by powerful races with wild magic until the treaty was formed. Now, for centuries, the elves have taken a young woman from Luella's village to be their Human Queen.

To be chosen is seen as a mark of death by the townsfolk. A mark nineteen-year-old Luella is grateful to have escaped as a girl. Instead, she's dedicated her life to studying herbology and becoming the town's only healer.

That is, until the Elf King unexpectedly arrives... for her.

Everything Luella had thought she'd known about her life, and herself, was a lie. Taken to a land filled with wild magic, Luella is forced to be the new queen to a cold yet blisteringly handsome Elf King. Once there, she learns about a dying world that only she can save.

The magical land of Midscape pulls on one corner of her heart, her home and people tug on another... but what will truly break her is a passion she never wanted.

A Deal with the Elf King is a complete, *stand-alone* dramatized audiobook, inspired by the tales of Hades and Persephone, as well as Beauty and the Beast, with a "happily ever after" ending. It's perfect for fantasy romance fans looking for just the right amount of steam and their next slow-burn and swoon-worthy couple.

Performed by Kelly Baskin, Rayner Gabriel, Elena Anderson, Robb Moreira, Gabriel Michael, Ryan Haugen, Debi Tinsley, Yasmin Tuazon, James Konicek, Matthew Bassett, Scott McCormick, Nanette Savard, Karen Novack, Samantha Cooper, Alysia Beltran, Holly Adams, Elias Khalil, Ken Jackson, David Zitney, Eric Messner, David Cui Cui, Drew Kopas, Lise Bruneau, Richard Rohan, Patrick Boylan, and Alejandro Ruiz.

One of my fav books

I love this book! Does Luella annoy me – yes, she does - does her incessant talk about duty and how she studied at the academy makes me want to pull my hair out – yes, it does 😠. HOWEVER, I love this book despite all that, and I really wanted to be able to listen to it on Audible.

I have the single narrator version but, I really do not like that particular narrator. I normally stay away from dramatised audio books (as part of the text is left out or condensed) or full cast but decided to get it anyway.

Some parts are overacted, to the point that it makes it a bit weird to listen to and, although elves are supposed to be light-footed, you would not think that listening to the footfalls in this audio. That being said, it is way better than the single narrator version ☺️

So easy to listen to

the voices, the story. simple, maybe predictable but so enjoyable and satisfying. I'm hoping that there is a part 2 at least.

Performances were great. The story, not so much.

I’m not sure why the effort was made to make this story into a Dramatised Audio. The performances were fine but the story is so incredibly dull and mediocre. Everything from the romance to the world building felt rushed and incomplete.

I loved it

I loved everything the story, the music and perfect casting. I decided to give this a go after listening to A Dance with the Fae Prince and will definitely be listening to the other married to magic audiobooks

This book wants to be acotar so bad

Anyone can write an okay book based off of someone else’s idea. It’s basically a fan fiction of acotar but readable in a day. The whole way through it just felt so plagiarised, to the point this author even uses some phrases, and events found in acotar which was published 5 years previous. Honestly I would just read acotar and the other series written by Sarah j Maas and not this Aldi version. The performance also felt very wooden between dialogue but that’s just a personal opinion and may have been influenced by my disappointment at the actual book.
