About this listen

Twitter hero James Felton brings you the painfully funny history of Britain you were never taught at school, chronicling 52 of the most ludicrous, weird and downright 'baddie' things we Brits* have done to the world since time immemorial - before conveniently forgetting all about them, of course. Including:

  • Starting wars with China when they didn't buy enough of our class A drugs
  • Inventing a law so we didn't have to return objects we'd blatantly stolen from other countries
  • Casually creating muzzles for women
  • And almost going to war over a crime committed by a pig

52 TIMES BRITAIN WAS A BELLEND will complete your knowledge of this sceptred isle in ways you never expected. So if you've ever wondered how we put the 'Great' in 'Great Britain', wonder no more . . .

*And when we say British, for the most part we unfortunately just mean the English.

Refreshing account of British History

It is so true that history is written by the winners. It,s so sad that what is omitted gets forgotten .
When you understand all of the information you can see why there is so much unrest in the world and how The Media continue to control the narrative.
Well worth reading and exploring further

Shamefully funny

Bite sized stories to highlight our elitist history being somewhat off the mark. Funny and tragic in equal measures, with a slice of sarcasm to round thing off nicely.

it was amusing

kept me amused on a couple of seafront strolls. all of the stories were equally interesting. Maybe not worth a monthly credit due to it being so short

Oh granddad, what have you done now!

A nicely presented and read discription of what granddad got up to during the war.
As a English man I found this very eye opening and makes you question what you think you know. plus the length is about right for us that didn't really like history at school but thought Blackadder and horrible histories where great shows.

Horrifyingly Comedic

The narration of this book is pure brutal honesty at it's finest. There will be parts where you'll laugh at the jokes (as you should), and parts where you will gasp in sheer horror as you realise what absolute monsters we were/are. Our nations reaction to minor disagreements is - to put it lightly - very over the top, and really makes you wonder what the **** we were thinking. If I were a history teacher and wanted to educate students, I'd direct them to this book if they think we're the good guys of the world, their reactions would be priceless.

Great read/listen

Knew most of this history before, but it is told in a humorous way, that helps you realise, actually, we've been bellends more than we'd like to admit!
