About this listen
“Take any simple man and rapidly make him exceptional. Strong, intelligent, quick and effective. Remove all his fears and cowardice, replace them with bravery and confidence. In short, create a superman from any stock. We believe the brain is capable of this transition by means of applied technology.”
The tantalising brief of a secret government project from the Cold War era. But, it can’t be real, can it?
Toby Steele is a typical night shift tech support guy, working alone, mostly in peace, until something strange happens on the night of the 22nd of February, 2022.
At 22:22:22—One moment that changes his life, forever.
How will he deal with the new skills he’s acquired, and what do they mean for his future? What secrets has a one-hundred-year-old lady in a care home kept from the world for more than half a century?
What do Enigma and Bletchley Park have to do with anything? And can Toby unravel the secret cyphers and mysteries to find a missing girl?

An entertaining premise
A good plot, characters that feel real. ok, there are holes in the plot, but none that cause upset.
Well-narrated, well-written

Decent concept
A good book with a bit of a slow start so worth persevering. The narrator grows on you but not until later on when he adapted his voice for different characters a bit more. Initially he plays it as an introverted weirdo but he does do things (even before the main issue – not giving anything away) that means he is not really the dull boring introverted person he paints.
I like the way the story builds and my only criticism is a very quick ending – but then again at least its not dragged out.

Great what if 'superhero' story
“22:22:22” is a captivating listen, brilliantly narrated by Mark Rice-Oxley. It’s a pleasure to hear and a standout addition to Adam Eccles’ engaging works. Highly recommended for its thrilling narrative and exceptional storytelling!

Great ideas for a story
I started listening to this book and was a bit unsure for the first 5 minutes. After that I couldn't stop listening, I've read many sci fi stories and the ideas behind this are quite new and very interesting. Also, as a side note, Adam Eccles does a podcast called middle raged which I enjoy as well. Great read and hopefully it will be a series of books going forward.

A wonderful read though felt more like a short story
Great premise. A very enjoyable read. However the final scene felt hurried. The book ended just a bit too abruptly with an underwhelming resolution to the story arc. I very much enjoyed it though felt the book lacked any concluding narrative from our protagonist or any main supporting character.
Bottom line - Whilst the ending has scope for improvement, its a great read. Perhaps this will all be fleshed out more in a future Toby Steele book.

Very enjoyable
This is the 3 book I’ve listened to by the author. I’ll certainly be listening to any future ones too. Hopefully this one might even be the start of a series

Really good, but...
Really good, but the ending had so much potential to be a cliffhanger, instead it wraps up. Disappointed there isn't a sequel or series. Would have been a great idea!

I've been waiting for this book!
I listened to System Restored and Need a Little Time both written by Adam Eccles and narrated by Mark Rice-Oxley. It's so hard to find Really good Time Travel books out there and those two books were brilliant! I loved them so much I actually looked up the narrator and emailed him to say how much I loved them and to ask when the next one would be out. 22:22:22 didn't disappoint me. Turns out Mark Rice-Oxley is an actor and it shows. He takes you on a journey and you end up liking the main character so much it feels like you're old friends. I wish Adam Eccles would keep doing these books and Mark would keep narrating them. I'm going to have to listen to them again. I highly HIGHLY recommend this book and System Restored and Need a Little Time and anything narrated by Mr. Rice-Oxley.
