Gill is a pioneer of holistic exercise and key figure in the development of Nordic and fitness pole walking. A fitness professional since the 80s, Gill was one of the first females in the UK to introduce weight training classes for women and her passion for making exercise fun but effective, led to her being involved in one of the first Exercise referral programmes in the UK. During her fitness industry career, she was in senior management roles for local authority health promotion and major Health clubs specialising in exercise adherence and behavioural change. Having discovered Nordic Walking whilst living in the French Alps, she became a Director of Nordic Walking UK - the first training company to offer it to the UK market in 2004 With her highly qualified team Gill has developed programmes for wellbeing, weight loss, ski fitness and exercise referral plus designed total body walking and created the WALX concept. - she has trained Instructors in Italy, Spain and Taiwan to date. She has contributed to several health and wellbeing publications and provides expert comment for magazines and press articles. Despite being a Great Grandmother in her sixties she is active daily and says " I act like a teenager and believe that health is not about strict exercise and diet but about loving life, being in nature and having a balanced approach to being active and eating well”
