Dr Supriya McKenna is one of the best known voices in the field of Narcissism. She is a former family doctor (GP), and an Amazon number one bestselling author on this subject. Her 2024 book, 'Narcissists in Divorce: From Love-Locked to Leaving' is the first of series, which prepares you for the unique, yet predictable, challenges you will encounter when leaving a narcissistic partner. It explains what true narcissism looks like, and contains detailed questionnaires to help you work out whether your partner really is a narcissist, and why, if they are, you are likely to find it so difficult to leave them. The second book in the Narcissists in Divorce series, 'From Leaving to Liberty – The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth', tackles head-on the spectre of post-separation abuse, and how worldwide legal systems fail to manage it (and often actually become weapons of this abuse). Dr Supriya empowers you, through detailed strategies, to use the narcissist's own psychology to your advantage, so that you can protect yourself and your family long term. Dr Supriya felt compelled to write the 2024 Narcissists in Divorce series to include the important failures of family justice systems, after the success of her debut 2020 co-authored book, ‘Divorcing a Narcissist: the Lure, the Loss and the Law’. She had become aware of the need to more properly prepare people for the the legal abuse they would encounter during their divorces, and additionally wanted to empower victim-survivors to reduce their susceptibility to post-separation abuse. Her book 'The Narcissist Trap: The Mind-Bending Pull of the Great Pretenders', explains the global phenomenon of narcissism to a more general audience. It details exactly how each narcissist affects everyone orbiting them to some degree, and how they can so effectively hide in plain sight. Dr Supriya illustrates narcissistic behaviours through her compelling and relatable cast of characters, and offers useful tips for managing narcissists, as well as effective self-protection techniques. Aside from her determination for justice to prevail, Dr Supriya is also known for her lively and engaging writing, and for her distinctive narrative voice - that of a friend and counsellor, who openly draws on her own experiences. Warm and informal, her writing offers insights, knowledge, wisdom, compassion, hope and even occasional humour. In 2020, upon first recognising the need for education in family lawyers, Dr Supriya conceived ‘Narcissism and Family Law: A Practitioner’s Guide’ (with UK legal contributions from solicitor Karin Walker). That book currently remains the only book for lawyers about narcissistic personality disorder – however Supriya will shortly be releasing a new handbook for family lawyers, packed with proven, practical, actionable tips to help them to more easily and effectively manage these hugely draining cases. An engaging speaker, Dr Supriya has given basic training to thousands of UK family law professionals (including judges, lawyers, mediators and social workers) in narcissistic personality disorder, but she recognises how much more there is to be done for there to be a real-world impact. She also works directly with those who have fallen victim to narcissistic abuse in any area of their lives. Supriya produces and hosts the popular top 5% podcast ‘Narcissists in Divorce: The Narcissist Trap’. A regular media commentator on the subject of narcissism, Supriya has also contributed to and written numerous articles for the general reader.
