Anne Cassidy has lived in London for most of her life. She worked in a bank for five years but then became a teacher. In 1989 she started writing books for teenagers. Her first book, Big Girls’ Shoes, a murder mystery, was published in 1991 and since then she has published over fifty books, thirty of which have been teen novels. She writes dark crime fiction and is best known for her book Looking for JJ which was shortlisted for the Carnegie medal. The sequel to this book is called Finding Jennifer Jones. Anne's most recent novels are No Virgin and its sequel No Shame. Anne’s first middle grade novel, The Drowning Day, was published in spring 2022.
