The Dinner Lady Detectives

Murder is a dish best served ice cold... In the idyllic, small town of Dewstow, Margery and Clementine are eagerly awaiting retirement from their work on the front-line serving meals to the students at Summerview secondary school. Their peaceful life is shattered when their kitchen manager is found dead in the school’s walk-in freezer. The police are adamant that it’s an open-and-shut case of accidental death. But Margery and Clementine are convinced that something more sinister is afoot and take it upon themselves to investigate.

In the small town of Dewstow, 'tis the season for gold, frankincense, and murder... It’s Margery’s first year as kitchen manager for Summerview school and supported by her wife, Clementine, she is trying to stay focused. When a tragic accident claims the life of the music teacher during rehearsals for the Christmas concert planning, they are caught in the crossfire. Mrs Smith, the Head of Drama, becomes the prime suspect, and is desperate for the Dinner Lady Detectives to clear her name.

The local mayor has a dinner date with death... With school out for the summer, dinner ladies Margery and Clementine Butcher-Baker are off on holiday to the picturesque village of St-Martins-on-the-Water. But on their first night, their meal at the hotel ends in disaster, when the local mayor is found dead on the restaurant floor, supposedly poisoned by his dinner. The village has a history of poisoning, and the locals are convinced the Poisoner is back. Immediately suspicion turns on Margery and – in particular – Clementine.

Cloaked strangers and danger abound... When dinner ladies and amateur sleuths Margery and Clementine Butcher-Baker embark on an evening walk after another busy half-term at Summerview Secondary School, they discover the body of missing maths teacher Mr Weaver. Marked with a mysterious symbol, something suspicious is clearly afoot. As the nights grow darker and the mysterious symbols continue to appear around Dewstow, The Dinner Lady Detectives are pulled deeper into the case. Can they solve the mystery as deceit and chaos reign, or will their killer pull off another deadly trick?

The truth isn't the only thing that's dead and buried... Following recent changes to Dewstow's local police force, The Dinner Lady Detectives, Margery and Clementine Butcher-Baker have been warned off interfering in investigations. When a body is found under the school playground during building renovations, they have no intention of getting involved. In need of money for their new website, the pair agrees to help Mrs Redburn, who suspects her husband of infidelity. But when their investigation sends them stumbling into the middle of the playground mystery, it becomes impossible for them to stay out of the police's way.
