The zombies have risen, the world has spiraled into chaos. Small pockets of survivors continue to struggle each day to survive. See the world through Steve's eyes as he tries to balance the duties of leading a band of survivors while caring for a young, Hispanic orphan girl.

It has been months...Steve has seen the worst in himself...and others. Now, it seems that zombies aren't the only threat to the lives of his companions. Will he lose those he loves to the walking dead...or a murderer? Kevin is the last geek standing, and a reunion with an old acquaintance puts him back in charge of a group of survivors. Will he fail in the one thing he thought he was prepared for? Or will he find his redemption?

Winter is coming... As survivors around the world struggle to get their feet under them in a world overrun by the walking dead, a new problem rears its head. As unstoppable as any horde of zombies, the seasons march on, heedless of the fragility of the human race. The first winter is approaching.

The first winter has come, and with it, new problems. No longer are the zombies the biggest threat to survival. With the global infrastructure gone, people are forced to do whatever it takes to survive...even the unthinkable. Steve faces his toughest decision yet as he tries to lead his people through one nightmare after another. Kevin risks everything to save one girl and finds himself in the middle of a military fight for power.

Several months have passed since the dead began to walk. The first winter has taken its toll in more ways than one as humanity continues to struggle to survive. Not every threat to humanity comes form the undead as so many have discovered man's ability to sink into depravity with the absence of law and order. Time and again survivors have fought, run, and regrouped. Yet, there seems to be no respite, and as winter draws on...things become more and more difficult to endure.

Winter is losing its grip. For Billy and the survivors who began the nightmare, the loss of Steve Hobart is devastating, but could they finally be finding a place to truly call home? Kevin resumes his original quest for a safe place in the Badlands of the Dakotas, but with a whole new gang. However, they stumble across another group of survivors and face a new dilemma. Do you try to save others at the risk of those you know and love?

Winter has gone, but the world is no less inhospitable. The survivors of this first winter now face some of the darkest and most soul-wrenching choices thus far. From the outskirts of London to an island refuge in Oregon, small groups struggle to build a new life. Kevin recovers to a realization that shatters his dreams, yet he must stand up and take the role of leader - or die trying. His followers, now largely consisting of juvenile delinquents and society cast-offs, need him.

Everything hangs by the thinnest of threads. In a Dead world, nothing is certain and nobody is safe. Friends have fallen; some enemies have been defeated only to be replaced by yet another. As the first year of the zombie apocalypse ends and a new year begins, can a person hope that the coming of spring can be a starting point for re-birth? If not... then what is the point of trying to survive?

While the undead currently roam the world in herds that can often stretch for miles, zombies are no longer the biggest threat to humanity. That distinction has returned to mankind. Those who are immune to the zombie infection are now either reviled or revered. Some have become human biological weapons while others are seen as the last hope for the continued existence of the human race. They are a symbol of hope to some...fear to others.

The days of being afraid of the walking dead are long since past. While they still prove to be a menace when they are found in massive herds numbering in the hundreds of thousands if not the millions, it is now the living that can be the most terrifying. Humanity is clawing to regain its place, and some will do anything to ensure their own survival...even at the cost of others.

The journey has been a long one; and through its twists and turns, we have lost some dear friends. Who lives to see the next sunrise? There is only one way to find out...in DEAD: End.
