My name is Scarlet Jones, and I'm a witch...of some kind. Probably. I grew up in a family full of strong Blood witches, in which my strange magic never belonged. I thought I was the only one of my kind out there, a true freak of nature, and I liked it that way. She never wanted me to be part of the paranormal world, but she made sure I was prepared for it anyway. I'm finally about to find out why.

The Green coven is under attack. The children of its leaders are disappearing without a trace, and nobody knows how to find them. Witches are losing it, and the coven is on the brink of self-destruction. The strangest thing is, the exact same things happened a decade ago, right before the Bone coven broke apart, and I'm not one to believe in coincidences. Solving this case means making my place in the paranormal world once and for all, and I'm going to use everything I have to get to the bottom of it - even if it means exposing my real magic to the world.

But by then, as is the case with most bad decisions, it will be too late...

Turns out that was just a place, but there's an actual hell here, so now I'm going in there, too. This time, though? Death is pretty much guaranteed, and I'm going in willingly. But if I'm lucky and I somehow survive, I'll get to say that I spent my nineteenth birthday in the Underworld.

The demons are after us. The ECU is after us. What are the odds that we'll ever stop them from hunting us down? Very low. Good thing I'm all up for impossible challenges. When the demons came into the ECU's "research" facility where we were being held prisoner, the strange dragon around my hand came to life, giving me a way to end those suckers for good. We might have made it out alive, but a lot of witches like us didn't. Instead, they were kidnapped by the demons.

When a 10-year-old boy pops up in the backseat of my car and tells me he saw himself coming to me in a vision, things slowly begin to go to hell. Everybody wants him, and nobody knows why. As if that wasn't enough, my sworn enemy, the Hedge witch Jane Dunham, will stop at nothing to get the kid, and she wants to destroy my entire world from the inside out while at it - her words, not mine. And she's found the perfect way to do it.

What's worse than a pink pixie living all alone in the Big City, eight thousand miles away from home? A pink pixie who's stuck managing monster-fighting crews without ever seeing the light of day herself.

The Elyseans have always thought themselves better than us mortals. At least, that's what they want the whole world to think. I believe it—until I complete the Elysean Trials they force me in and attend the Academy of Divine Light and Beauty. Until I meet a real Olympian goddess, and she finally sheds light on the gods' biggest secret, and it's worse than I could have ever imagined. Turns out, there's a purpose to the Elysean Trails. There's a reason why they exist and why they choose mortals to bring to their Academy. A very good reason, just not the one the world knows.

The Carnival of Light didn't exactly go the way the ECU had imagined. We ended up putting the best show in the world for them. Hiding away in an abandoned monastery while all our enemies knew where we were sounded much better as an idea. Now that we were actually living there, all Storm witches who'd come to meet us at the carnival, it was a whole other story. We'd gotten every person on the ECU hit-list under one roof, and we had no means to protect them. Yet. Finding the Spellmaker kid is our top priority. Without spells, we don't have much hope to make our place in the world.

When you stand for something in life, you're bound to make some enemies. It's just my luck that my enemy turned out to be a really evil asshole with very powerful magic. Hector Haworth is coming after me no matter how hard I keep pretending he isn't. I've got two things he wants badly: a wolf he can possess, and the Reaper String - an enchanted item that can give him access to even more power. Giving up my freedom for the safety of my sister felt like a small price to pay - right until she went and disappeared again.

I made a deal with a sorcerer. I'll help him stop an evil nobody even knows exists yet. In exchange, he'll set me free of the monster that lives inside me. Sounds like a sweet deal, right? I thought so, but there's one thing I forgot to think about: Ax Creed.

You'd think being the princess of all shifters would come with benefits and glamour and freedom—it doesn't. It comes with isolation, constant fear, and a fabric over my head the whole damn time.
