To test Vikram, Betaal begins narrating a story, with the condition that if Vikram speaks at all during the stories, he will vanish. Each time Betaal concludes a story, he ends it with a question to Vikram, who answers it correctly but inadvertently gives Betaal the chance to vanish, with Vikram then hunting for him.
