  • Summary

  • One of George Bernard Shaw's best known plays, Pygmalion was a rousing success on the London and New York stages which also became an entertaining motion picture and a great hit with its musical version, My Fair Lady.

In this Audible Original dramatisation Stephen Fry stars as phonetics expert Professor Henry Higgins who takes on a bet that in a matter of months he can transform cockney flower seller Eliza Doolittle, played by Daisy Edgar Jones, into a woman as poised and well-spoken as a duchess.

Excellent

Very entertaining performance and a lovely story. Stephen Fry is very fitting for the role of Henry Higgins.

delightful

A wonderfully entertaining story with a fabulous cast of voices. Highly recommended listen but perhaps not suitable before sleep, the characters are still stuck in my head!

My Fair Pygmalion

Very well performed by the very best actors you'll hear on any audio book.
The story was slashed and does not include the education of Elsa.
The last 10-15 minutes were a summary of what happened to the protagonists of the story. Better to have made the flower girl to duchess story more complete than to dress her up, give her a posh voice and say, "six months later".

Why was the middle of the story omitted?

The performances were good but the cutting of a huge part of the play removed narrative sense
