In the song "Mayberry", Rascal Flatts opens by saying that sometimes the world feels like it's spinning faster than it did in the old days. While the earth itself might not be spinning faster literally, it does feel like society has jumped into the express lane, hurtling toward some unknown destination like we have to get there first. But why? Do we really need to increase efficiency at every turn?
