  • In this epidose of SeroTunein, my conversation with Kavi taught me to understand how experiencing a creative fulfillment in art requires you to reconcile with your identity. For a lot of South Asian creatives like Kavi, that process doesn’t usually come easy: when children born to Indian parents who have begun as immigrants to the United States, they feel a weird disconnection to their Indian heritage and their American way of living and communicating. In this epidose with Kavi, we explore how she navigated through some struggles growing up and feeling isolated from her community to how she explored her identity through embracing these challenges growing up, and how that identity is being expressed through art to make others feel seen and recognized.
