Summary
Is it possible to overcome a lifetime of barriers and finally take a chance on love?
Jamie Callahan handles her job as an investment analyst, her distant relationship with her niece, and her romantic liaisons with a cool head and unaffected heart. Until she meets Kate Brown, a woman who threatens to push aside Jamie's protective defenses and uncover the emotions hiding underneath.
Kate has a mask for every occasion. She wears them to please her parents, to move ahead in her career, to fit in the right social circles. She meets with Jamie because she needs funding for an Olympic-caliber horse, but instead she finds someone who sees beyond the image Kate projects and brings out her true desires.
From the boardroom to the show ring in Portland, Oregon, Jamie and Kate routinely face uncertainty and challenge in their careers, but never in romance. As their growing attraction threatens to expose vulnerabilities both try to hide, they must decide if the stakes are too high or if love is worth the risk.

Good story .Not so keen on the narrator.
Good story, even though it was a bit shorter than those I nor ally download. Not so keen on the narrator. A bit "dramatic"

Great story
This is a great story. It's set in Portland Oregon and revolves around a rider (Kate) who wants to move way from her farm and ridding school, to make it big in the Olympics. To do this she needs an expensive horse and has to seek investment from a uptight banker (Jamie). The two have an attraction, and over time hit it off. The tension comes from their personalities, and the fact that the banker has a disabled, adopted niece (Anna), she is very protective off. She also feels guilty about the fact that her sister died after an argument.
There is a lot of detail and great scenes where Anna is helped to ride at the school, and how this and other things help Jamie bring her emotions back to the surface and deal with them. Kate on the other hand is trying to come to terms with what she has versus what the investment could offer.
So the story is really good. Jamie comes off a bit predatorial at the start which I didn't like, but it soon settled down, and the reasons for her behavior became more apparent as the novel progressed. Kate is a great character, and the location is also ideal.
The Narration wasn't as strong as I would have liked, so have a listen first. It comes across rather rather textbook like, but I still give it four stars for the narration.
