About this listen

He can jump between worlds. But can he save his own?

As a totalitarian Inspectorate tightens its grip, one man discovers the power to slip through the gaps and traverse alternate universes. World Walkers by Neal Asher is an exhilarating standalone novel set within the Owner universe.

Ottanger is a rebel and mutant on an Earth governed by a ruthless Committee. But after its Inspectorate experiments on him, he discovers the ability to reach alternate worlds. The multiverse is revealed in all its glory and terror – and he can finally flee his timeline.

Then Ottanger meets the Fenris, an evolved human visiting Earth from the far future. He’d engineered the original world-walking mutation, so those altered could escape the Committee’s regime. Yet this only aided a few, while millions still suffered. And Ottanger sees that the Committee will become unstoppable if not destroyed.

However, the Fenris's visit also attracted the Hive. With the power of its trillion linked minds, it craves world-walking biotech and will do anything to get it. As conflict looms at home, and war threatens the multiverse – the Fenris, Ottanger and his companions must prepare for battle . . .

Neal Asher

Hat a writer , how does he come up with these originals. Another one I just couldn’t put down, stop listening too. I wish it was just not one book

I miss the style of the old books

I loved the gridlinked and prador wars books. The owner series was great too. However Neals more recent books seem to lack the well developed likeable characters and feel like they’re a product of the vast amount of research that he does.

Very disappointing

That was difficult to finish. I've read almost everything by the author and enjoyed the majority. I'm happy this wasn't my first experience because I wouldn't have bothered again. Dislikable characters, implausible plot, unappealing location and no humour whatsoever.

The dystopian bleed off into the book itself

I believe the first books in the committee universe were written around the time of Neal As wife’s death. The bleakness of the books and their future just didn’t match the polity series. I still enjoyed the trilogy books however this in my mind is not of Neals best.

So good

Barring some clunky anti communism musing this is another epic feat of imagination from Asher

Geat read, especially if it leads onto new content.

I really enjoyed this novel, as I have all the great stories that have gone before it. I love the characters too although I was wondering how this story would sink up with the saga that’s gone before. Not only did it work, it’s also opened great new opportunities for future stories.
