About this listen
A dramatic and terrifying memoir of a ‘catfish’ scenario – when a woman meets a man online but nothing is what it seems.
25-year-old Megan Henley put her five-year-old daughter to bed one evening and switched on her laptop. A Facebook ‘friend request’ seemed to be genuine. There were a few common friends and very similar interests, so Megan accepted.
With that one simple act, she changed her life forever. In her words: ‘looking back on it, it was as if I had opened my front door to a stranger, as if I had thrown away every precaution I’d ever put in place, as if I had freely given access to my whole world – all because of some naïve belief that it was ‘just’ a friend request on a social media site.’ Megan is tricked into paranoia, marriage and ultimately betrayal by the man she loved and trusted but nothing is as it seems.

Wow
If I didn't know this was a true story I'd think it was a work of fiction , can't believe someone can so easily create such a web of lies to control another person , become so vindictive they would let their partner and child be so scared for their lives . well worth a listen enjoyable if shocking book

Intriguing, captivating and ultimately inspiring
A cautionary, true tale of how anyone could become a fly trapped into a psychopath's web of deceit. The woman in this story shows true courage and determination in not only surviving the nightmare her life had become but by escaping it and starting afresh. Intriguing, captivating and ultimately inspiring.

True Story?
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would have found most of this story over the top and far fetched in a book I was reading that I knew wasn't a true story, let alone one that is. Found myself getting annoyed at the 'Victims' stupidity nearly all the time, but I suppose its hard to know how we would act in these situations, I hope and pray I wouldn't act as this lady did, I would hope I would see the warning signs.....then don't we all think that! Mind you I would not let myself get close and intimate to a total stranger with mental issues, I know that for sure!!

Brilliant book.
This book is brilliant. Exciting from the start. A true story which you may find unbelievable but would you fall for the lies.
