Summary

The first audiobook of Skilgannon the Damned, from the acclaimed author of Legend.

Skilgannon the Damned had vanished from the pages of history. Following the terrible triumph at Perapolis, the General had taken the legendary Swords of Night and Day and ridden from the lands of Naashan. No one knew where he had gone, and the assassins sent by the Witch Queen could find no trace of his passing.

Three years later, as a mob intent on murder gathers outside a distant monastery, they are faced by a single unarmed priest. In a few terrifying seconds their world is changed forever, and word spreads across the lands of the East. Skilgannon is back. Now he must travel across a perilous, demon-haunted realm seeking a mysterious temple and the ageless goddess who rules it. With assassins on his trail and an army of murderous foes ahead, the Damned sets off on a quest to bring the dead to life. But he does not travel alone. The man beside him is Druss the Legend.

In a world torn by war, White Wolf is a tale of love, betrayal and treachery, which examines the nature of heroism and friendship and the narrow lines that divide good from evil, redemption from damnation.

Brilliant and full of emotional flavours.

I have read the book but the audiobook was more enjoyable.
lots of flash back scenes to flush out the back story but not to much to slow the book down.
each chapter had an significant and interesting reason for being in the book.
action, romance, evilness, heroism, monsters, magic.
everything you want in a Fantasy novel.
Thank you David Gemmell.
You created something fantastic.

Superb

Loved it. Read the book when I was young and still enjoyed it as much now as I did then. Such a pleasure to be able to listen to this now, with Sean Barratts' narration doing full justice to Gemmell in all his Drenai works. On the the Swords of night and day next, can't wait!

God's but I love Druss

I love any of the books featuring Druss. Skilgannon is a great tormented character. Though I'm typically not find of the mirroring of earlier life while the narrative is ongoing it works here. Great narration also. Guy has an awesome voice.

Love the books- tried the audio book.

I am a huge David Gemmell fan.
love the books, love his writing, love the characters, love the fights and the emotional connection you make with characters.
I am always amazed how vivid he portrays the surroundings and landscapes with an economy of words. other authors use very descriptive language and similes and still fail to convey the building blocks needed for ones imagination to render the scene.
Characters are the key to Gemmell books and if the voice, tone, emotion or lack there of is not spot on the readers (or in this case listeners) connection is never really established.
So it was with reservation I decided to listen to the audio book.
Simply, I was not disappointed!
I felt like the reader was a fan of Gemmell and understood the characters and managed to get their personalities across.
I am delighted with it. can't wait to read the next one, hope it's the same narrator.
5* from me.
