About this listen

The police don't show up on Easy Rawlins's doorstep until the third girl dies. It's Los Angeles, 1956, and it takes more than one murdered black girl before the cops get interested. Now they need Easy. As he says: "I was worth a precinct full of detectives when the cops needed the word in the ghetto." But Easy turns them down. He's married now, a father -- and his detective days are over. Then a white college coed dies the same brutal death, and the cops put the heat on Easy: If he doesn't help, his best friend is headed for jail. So Easy's back, walking the midnight streets of Watts and the darker, twisted avenues of a cunning killer's mind....©1994 Walter Mosley (P)2009 Audible, Inc. Great story & reading

Vivid characters and eloquence. Walter Mosley a brilliant story teller, leaves me wanting more. Easy to see why Bill Clinton rates him highly. class act.

Another great Easy mystery

I started reading Walter Mosley because John Grisham mentioned the author in the Racketeer. I have found this and other Walter Mosley books about Easy Rawlings very interesting. They have provided me with new insights of a culture very different to 21st century England. I particularly like the development of the character Easy. However, my favorite is Mouse, who I probably would not want to meet in person but always provides color to the stories.

Superb narrator performance

I never thought I'd take to fiction via audiobook, but the narrator, Michael Boatman, does an incredible job here. Totally reversed my preconceptions

Phenomenal

Mosley is a genius. Pacey plot but really interesting characters with good insight into that time and place. Voice actor nails Easy Rawlins.
