One summer.
One house.
One family learning to love again.

Cate Morris and her son, Leo, are homeless, adrift. They’ve packed up the boxes from their London home, said goodbye to friends and colleagues, and now they are on their way to ‘Hatters Museum of the Wide Wide World – to stay just for the summer. Cate doesn’t want to be there, in Richard’s family home without Richard to guide her any more. And she knows for sure that Araminta, the retainer of the collection of dusty objects and stuffed animals, has taken against them. But they have nowhere else to go. They have to make the best of it.

But Richard hasn’t told Cate the truth about his family’s history. And something about the house starts to work its way under her skin.

Can she really walk away, once she knows the truth?

loved it

I really enjoyed this book, its a but slow to start but builds up. Really shines a light on mental health too and how it affects a family.
The portrayal of Leo is brilliant and the narration is superb. a really enjoyable book.

Moving and magical

Terrific second novel from a talented and engaging writer. With a cast of believable, sympathetic and well drawn characters, Where We Belong is sad, hilarious and witty.

A sad but beautiful story.

This is an emotional story from the very beginning. Beautifully narrated, it deals with a difficult subject authentically but extremely sensitively. I found myself immersed very quickly and it had my attention to the very moving end. An end full of hope.

Interesting holiday read

The story gets better as it unfolds.
The narrating I found distracting but, less as the story unfolded.
An excellent holiday read . You can pick it up and put it down , without getting lost.

Pleasant Enough

This was pleasant to listen to. The story was good enough to hold my attention. Nothing gripping or page turningly exciting. But pleasant is nice and I did enjoy the story. Whilst listening to it I got sensations of The Secret Garden and Tom's Midnight Garden. It's hard to explain why I thought of those two stories whilst listening to this one. I think it was the similarities in the house, the garden, the mysterious Araminta and all the secrets from long ago. The only niggle I did have was with the voicing of Leo. It was jarring on my nerves. I know this character had Downs Syndrome, but I don't think it was necessary to the story to narrate it in that voice.
