A bit long winded
The story is very long winded but it did keep my interest, very well told. The story does have some unexpected twists and turns.

Narration ok but....
As long as the reader wasn't attempting female voices it was bearable but the shrill, harpy tones of any female character was very grating. Good yarn by Gerald Hammond. Definitely would have benefited from a different narrator sadly hence only 3 stars.

Sexist drivel
To bulk the storyline out the author as used sexual innuendo throughout the book. What a shame as the story could have been good.

Poorly w through, dreadful reading
Appalling details - would an ambulance get lost for hours without trying to ring the mobile the call came from? Would the rescuers really not call the police and fire brigade rather than drag up someone with a potential back injury from a well? And those are the better bits.
The women are read as whiny, high pitched East Lothian’s.
Avoid.
