Summary
Pen
I’ve seen firsthand the monsters that men turn into when they’re hit with the virus. I’ve been at their bedside in the ER when the Task Force comes and hauls them away. I’ve heard the stories of women getting kidnapped right off the street, never to be seen again. What I’m unprepared for is the day my best friend Mal goes missing, only to turn up upstate in a mansion, claiming one of the Awakened beasts is her “mate”.
When I find her, I’m equally unprepared for the broken and brooding alpha male she warns me away from. The one so deranged that the pack’s “enforcer” has to regularly drag him home, wrapped up in chains so he doesn’t kill someone. He’s clearly insane, but there’s a fire in his eyes that calls to me, a deep and primal power that tugs at my soul.
There’s just one other problem. His only memory is of beautiful blue eyes. Blue eyes he can’t stop thinking about. Blue eyes that aren’t my own - even as our connection grows. I shouldn’t let him touch me, but I can’t stop.
My presence drives him to the very edges of his frayed sanity, and I’m terrified to find out what happens when his restraint finally snaps.

Book 2
Samson and Penelope
Anna Fury gives us another detailed amazing look into this Omegaverse world in this second book in the Alpha Compound series.
It starts with Penelope (Pen) as an emergency nurse who has seen firsthand the ‘awakened’ and the task force who come collect them from the hospital. When she finds her bestie Mallory missing after her shift is done she begins her search for her. When she finds Mal, she amazed to find her in a mansion many miles away with a group of what Mal refers as Alphas. And she’s instantly drawn to one alpha that she’s warned against. But Samson is someone she’s instantly attracted to.
His continued growth and his lack of ability to keep his awakened state under control has left him a bit of a loner but she definitely has a bond with him. Samson instantly feels her as his Omega. His memories remain just out of his grasp; except for bright blue eyes and needlessly he’s afraid to get involved with anyone he may hurt if he has someone he left behind when he went through the change.
I’m really getting into hearing more about the Alphas and their Omegas in this continuing series.
Finding out more with Pen’s Father connection to yet another pack of Alphas and wondering how the next books will show us what exactly the chemist is doing has me intrigued.
The choices of narrators in this next instalment are so well matched. Samantha has the sass and shows us Pen’s caring and strength as she goes through the up and downs of her relationship with Samson. Patrick Zeller is new to me and I throughly enjoyed following him through Samson’s awakening of his place in his pack and remembering his past. He brings out Samson’s unique qualities and his questioning sense of his present and his past.
This book brings us answers and insights yet also brings more questions about this Omegaverse world and I can’t wait to hear more.

WOW - Full on and intense into to omegaverse
*ALC received in exchange for my honest review*
This is one intense, thrown in at the deep end, introduction into all things Omegaverse for me. But after some calibration I really enjoyed it. The concept was the first thing that drew me in as it opens on a introduction to a dystopian world which has been ravaged and turned upside down three years before due to a “virus” that turns men into feral uncontrollable beasts. Sound familiar?
Pen is a fiery and dedicated nurse who has seen her fair share of the “awakened” and subdued them while the shadowy Task Force take them away. She doesn’t question it until one day her best friend goes missing and she sets off to find her. The streets are no longer safe and she is frantic with worry until she manages to track her down to a remote mansion full of awakened only to discover they aren’t the mindless beasts they have all been led to believe, but Alphas and her best friend just happens to be a mate to one of them.
Pen stays with the pack learning about the truth behind Alphas and becomes drawn to the broody Samson. There is an inexplicable and intense attraction between them that they cannot deny and boy do they explore it 😉 But Samson isn’t like the others, he cannot remember anything of his past life and he occasionally has phases of going wild making him dangerous. And he is always searching for the person with the haunting blue eyes, the only memory he has. Will this phantom with the blue eyes tear Pen and Samson apart? What will happen to the Alpha Compound if the Task Force discovers them?
This is a fast paced and intense story and really does go full on with the Alpha/Omega trope and there are some very spicy scenes in this one. Wow, and hats off to our two narrators the brilliant Samantha Brentmoor and Patrick Zeller for delivering this aural delight because it will melt your headphones.
I loved their portrayal of Pen and Samson’s emerging love story, they manage to strike the right balance the overpowering chemistry, the endearing and heartfelt moments and the painful heartbreak moments and everything in between. Two exceptional performers in a class of their own in this one and it is in duet style which I personally always love listening to. It provides a more immersive and visceral listening experience.
Samantha Brentmoor absolutely kills it as the wickedly sassy and confident Penelope and I always love listening to her voice but she wields it like a sharp weapon in this one and you just cannot resist. Don’t even try is my recommendation, she is one of the absolute best narrators out there and I adore her.
Patrick Zeller was a new to me narrator and I was instantly blown away by him. He clearly enjoyed getting to unleash his inner Alpha and rage out playing this pack of characters while at the same time managing to be all rugged and growly and seductive. A high level threat this one, and no doubt I’ll be listening to more of his work in the future.
I really like the ensemble of characters the author has created with this pack and the internal dynamics and emerging relationships. This is Book 2 in the series and I hadn’t listened to the first one but you soon pick up everything you need to know. The highest compliment I can give any author, I extend to this one, I was hooked enough that I know want to know what happens next. Whose story will be next, and how will the pack survive against the shadowy forces aligned against them.
This book is the right mix of dystopia, omegaverse and insta-lust and soulmate romance and after the initial shock of the intensity of some of the racy scenes I’d say there wasn’t an awful lot of darkness and triggers, but it is always best to check your own comfort levels on the author’s website.
I fully recommend this one to anyone who wants a fast, hot, spicy and intense alpha/omega romance in a well constructed universe with an engaging group of characters that will have you hooked from the first chapter.

This book had me on the edge of my seat
This book is hot, action packed, exciting and intriguing. My heart breaks for the tortured Alpha and I love his feisty omega. I haven’t listened to the first book but I found I didn’t need to. The story and the details were easy to understand and it works perfectly as a standalone story.
Samantha Brentmoor & Patrick Zellar do a fantastic job on the narration and really bring the characters to life!
I cannot wait to see what happens next and I’ll definitely be going back to listen to the first book.

Great Second Book in the Series
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I was so glad to be able to pick up this series right where we left off from the last book, with the benefit of being able to experience this from the perspective of different characters.
Penelope and Samson provided a fresh dynamic to the story being characters we have already met in book one but we get to learn so much more about them as the book goes on.
Knowing from the previous book that Samson lost his memories during his transformation and seeing how this interplays in this story, as well as the clear and immediate bond between him and Penelope makes for such an interesting relationship between the two of them.
The spice is hot, like hotter than hell kinda hot. However, I don’t feel like this overwhelmed the story in anyway, it feels like such an intrinsic part of the relationships between Alphas and Omegas considering there is a higher base animal instinct there.
Penelope is an absolute firecracker and I adored he, she strives through life making her own decisions and she owns them in this book, and brings out another side to Samson that we didn’t see at all in book one.

Samson and Pen
This is my first audiobook by this author and let me tell you it does not disappoint, it's Penelope and Samson's story and tells how Penelope whilst looking for her best friend, Mallory arrives at the compound, armed to the teeth and expecting a fight. What she doesn’t expect is what Mallory tells her about both alphas as well as her relationship as an Omega with Orion. At his first meeting with Penelope Samson is drawn to her but he tries to fight this because of some unexplained health issues and the loss of some of his memories.
Pen and Samson are total opposites, she's aggressive, strong and outgoing, the daughter of an outlaw and full of snark whilst Samson was once an English professor and is usually quite chilled despite the fact that he still has periods of wildness when he completely loses control. But despite their differences, they work. The chemistry between them is palpable and undeniable. The storyline is smooth flowing and hot!
The narration by Patrick Zeller and Samantha Brentmoor is very well done and added to my enjoyment of this story.
I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

I was so intrigued by Samson from book one i really wanted to know what made him tick!
Pen was the perfect person for him, she really gave him a chance when everyone was so quick to write him off.
and to find out what he was searching for was amazing!

A Dystopian Shifter Romance
Wake Up, Alpha by Anna Fury is a dystopian omegaverse romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Patrick Zeller and Samantha Brentmoor. This is the second book in the Alpha Compound series.
This is the second book of Anna's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I enjoyed the relationship between Samson and Pen. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Wide Awake to be released on audio so I can get Carmen, Connor, and Brady.
Patrick and Samantha did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dystopian romances, omegaverse romances, or romantic suspense.
