About this listen

Vivienne

Guilt...like a cancer, it festers, slowly stealing your life bit by painful bit.

What do you do when you have betrayed the love of your life, but he is no longer there to grant you forgiveness? How do you carry the weight of your gravest mistake knowing there is no way to atone for it? I've made a terrible choice - one that can't be undone. Hiding this secret is eating me alive. But if it ever came out? If it were ever discovered? It would destroy everything.

Reid

They say you always want what you can't have. From the moment I laid eyes on Vivienne Parker, I knew I was fighting a losing battle. I want to believe that I'm better than this - that I wouldn't cross that line - but deep down, I know if I were ever given a chance, there's no way in hell I'd refuse.

She's my uncle's wife, so why does it feel as if she is mine?

Contains mature themes.

Awesome

At first I was unsure about this novel but the story just drags you in. Was unable to stop listening. The ending was so sad just loved it. Both narrors did a brilliant job brought the story to life. There was so much grief and heartache you really feel for both characters so sad had me crying well done to the author she was new to me fell on this story by chance.

Critique

I’m only 7 chapters in and I’m enjoying the story and the narration as a whole. Normally I don’t leave a review until I’ve finished a book but I have to say that despite the positives in the book and narration, I’m disappointed in the language used to describe autism and autistic people. The language used is very dated even for a book released in 2018. Asperger’s is no longer given as a diagnosis. It’s just part of the autism spectrum. It’s not simply being socially awkward as described by the author. It’s also not something people “suffer with” as described in the book. Autism isn’t an illness or disease. It means the brain works in a different way from other people. As such, “autistic” is part of the person’s identity rather than autism being something the person has.

Wasn’t expecting this…

I was not ready. Vivienne’s guilt what an understatement . This book nearly all the way through made me uncomfortable red flags car crashes and train wrecks galore I couldn’t figure out where it was going. When it got there Lord I could not believe. I was in floods of tears at the end for both Reid and Vivienne.

Read it and weep.

Okay but a bit disappointing

It was OK. The narration was actually quite good and the story was intriguing enough, albeit slightly predictable in places, but I did not like the end. I suppose it makes a change from the standard HEA, but I felt let down and that's not how I want to feel at the end of a book
