Summary

We live in a time of unprecedented upheaval, when technology and so-called progress have made us richer but more uncertain than ever before. We have questions about the future, society, work, happiness, family and money, and yet no political party of the right or left is providing us with answers. So, too, does the time seem to be coming to an end when we looked to economists to help us define the qualities necessary to create a successful society.

We need a new movement. One defined by a young historian who can tell us the truth about how we got here. They'd be a political outsider, the voice of their generation, one who doesn't harness rage or agitate grievances but who provides us with the answers for which we've been looking. That person is Rutger Bregman, and his vision is Utopia for Realists.

Loved it - a real eye-opener

Brilliant. Very easily accessible even for people not used to this sort of book, made more so by the brilliant and passionate performance of Peter Noble.

My mind was blown from chapter 1. Definitely worth your time.

A fresh outlook on existing ideals

All great ideas... nothing new but a fresh outlook and all in one place

Have one issue with the translation which talks only of "England" when it really means "Britain" especially where he should have referenced "Scottish" or "British" workers of Robert Owen... these were not "English" workers

Outstanding

Alongside black box thinking the best nonfiction I've ever read. The ideas within could change the world.

In these days of Brexit, Trump and mindless GDP driven policy this book has given me a new hope for the future, we only have to create it!

A must read for every citizen and government.

Any one caring about our long term future should read this book. we take society for granted and only see our short horizon. this book can open yiur eyes to longer trends and issues and help you embrace and accelerate change to a better future for all.
