Summary
Kyle Vaughn had three goals in life: become a vet, find the man of his dreams, and start a family. He easily checked off the first item on the list when he took over his grandfather's veterinary practice. Too bad he wasn't as lucky in love.
Chaz Hamilton took a leap of faith when he decided to pursue a career in writing, but one best seller didn't mean he could quit his day job. All work and no play threatened to make Chaz a very dull man when the only romantic action he saw was in the pages of his manuscript. Too bad he couldn't write his own happily every after.
Circumstances pushed the two men together, and one magical kiss beneath fireworks and stars changed everything. Kyle knew his luck had finally turned around and Chaz found a man far better than any book boyfriend ever written. There was just one problem. Chaz has kept a secret from Kyle that could ruin their chance at a beautiful life together.
Kyle and Chaz learn that the best-laid plans often go awry, the heart has a mind of its own, and the greatest love is unscripted. Contains mature themes.

Great story odd bonus story
Really enjoyed this book and the characters journey towards love. Love this narrators voice. But the story ended abruptly and had a short bonus story about fringe characters tacked on at the end. I thought it’d circle back but didn’t. Felt odd.

Struggled to follow the story...
I have listened to this story through to the end twice, after 5 false starts where I had to go back to the beginning. I find it very difficult to keep track of which character is speaking. The voices sound very similar or seem to switch between the main characters. I think I have been spoilt by duet narrations and excellent full cast narrations.

It's okay
The narrator is just the best ever. The story is merely okay. Funny in places but didn't draw me on enough to listen to the second book

ok
I found it difficult to keep listening to this book in the beginning because I disliked the character of Charles, so selfish. However, I persisted and then I started to enjoy it but I wouldn't want to listen to it again.

Didn't like Chaz
I disliked Chaz's character a lot. He acted childish, cowardly, selfish and self-centred for most of the book. The way he played games with Kyle and his feelings pissed me off. He was told by the ladies in his family how Kyle was hurt as a child and may have confidence issues about his appearance. He recognised it, thought about coming clear and then didn't. He continued to wallow in self pity and hurt Kyle in order to save himself embarrassment. It was just cruel. Thank goodness Joel Leslie was narrating it or I would have stopped listening. Chaz got better in the end after everything was cleared but by that time I didn't care.
Loved Kyle aka Dr. Dimples. Just saying that makes me smile. Kyle was incredibly generous, wonderful and a patient man who refused to give up and deserved better than Chaz Hamillton. I thought he forgave Chaz too quickly especially when Chaz broke his heart brutally without any explanation not once but twice. A bit grovelling from Chaz and him chasing Kyle for another chance would have been better.
I am interested to know more about Emory so I will listen to the next and because Joel Leslie is narrating.
