Woah - this book blew my socks off!!!
I LOVED it!! This was my kind of (very British!) humour - sarcastic, ironic, sardonic (but not overly comedic or slapstick in any way, I assure you!!); A relatively novel premise, written insightfully; Brilliant action scenes; A wonderful set of oh so British characters - a total snapshot of school life as we here know it; Some surprisingly well written emotional moments; A journey of learning about each others true characters, for the 4 main kids, rather than the masks and personas they wear at school. Some real strength of character comes out in even the most peeving characters, which really deepens their relationships and hence the readers enjoyment of the book; A smidge of romance - skilfully written, with just enough, and no more so that rather than being the same old tiresome soppy YA romance stories/love triangles, it was just this sweet blossoming of two acquaintances into a friendship born under fire... then gradually, gently they eventually tipped the balance into more than just friends.
The only hints of anything I wasn't so keen on were all pretty small niggles, really. Possibly she could have written the castle section a bit less famous five-y ... Whilst I love those books from my childhood, it would have been nice to have had a bit more thought gone into how to tackle 'locked up in castle by bad guys' without it coming off as... well... famous five-y! ;)
Then there was the situation with Bobby's mum ... Ok so she may not have been actually involved in the evil plot - but when she figured it out, why didn't she contact bobby and get her and the other kids to safety, since she surely knew that they were in the wrong area at the absolute WRONGEST time!! As I said though - small niggles!
All in all, this was a fun read. Action and humour and the great reading kept me reading much longer than i should have been, and I read it in under 2 days :) Trust me - if you love zombies, or just want to try the genre, read this book!!

Very enjoyable
Would you listen to Undead again? Why?
I really enjoyed the story and so did my class in the school where I teach.
It's fun, fast paced and well performed (although the Scottish accents are a bit hit and miss)
