Summary
There are moments you can’t remember but love that you will never forget...
The loner
After the war had stolen everything Alexi had known and loved, he withdrew from the world, vowing never to let anyone get close to him again. As a former soldier, he knew how to survive on his own, which is why he decided to settle into a life on the outskirts of a remote Alaskan town.
Oblivious to the bear shifter amongst them, it was here that Alexi sought to find a sense of peace in his days by hunting and fishing in the wilderness. He couldn’t imagine replacing the clan he’d lost, so the brokenhearted warrior decided it was better if he didn’t even try.
Alone and lost, the handsome survivor accepted that he would be spending the rest of his life in solitude, heartbroken and mourning the ghosts of his past.
Or so he thought.
After hearing screams coming from his woods one night, Alexi wanders out...only to discover his life will never be the same again.
The stranger
Jake isn’t quite sure what to make of anything since the accident. He’s not even sure what his name actually is, but one thing is for sure - as much as he wants to remember who he was, he wants to learn about his mysterious savior even more.
The alpha who has been nursing him back to health has made an effort to be gentle, but his careful caresses make Jake long to feel those same strong hands aggressively show off the power of the man they belong to all over the rest of his body.
As the chemistry between these two men comes to a boil, Jake’s memories begin returning to him. But will he be too late piecing together what he recalls of his own past and what his caretaker has told him of his before it’s too late?
Will these brave men be able to find the courage to reveal themselves to one another before a danger lurking in the woods from both their pasts becomes a dire threat to both their lives?
Journey deep into the woods with this heart-stopping tale of passion that will heal the most wounded broken heart. Unbreaking His Heart is an emotional M/M shifter mpreg romance that won’t leave your soul or your memory when you’re through.

Oh this was so cute!
I usually don't read shifters stories because they are more of the same, and this one is not far from it. But once in a while I like my cliches, specially when they are well done like this case. Both characters are likable, the pace of the story is good enough even with the insta-lust/fated mate going one. It wasn't one look and BAM they are in love with each other.
One thing I didn't like was the ending. Not the ending per se, but the lasts chapters. The tension was builiding and we knew the confrontation was coming, but the way Alexi handle it made me almost skip to their happy ending, hence why I took one star and debated taking out 2 (yes, it was that bad). If I was Jake, I wound't forgive him.
I think this is the first time I listen to Gabriel Penn and I liked well enough although it really felt like a reading not a performance like I used to. The characters looked similar and there wasn't much emotion behind the speeches. But the pacing was good, his voice is pleasant so I liked it.

as good as the ebook
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

A gentle bear shifter romance
Alexi is a bear shifter who lives alone near a remote Alaskan town. He rescues Jake from a bear trap and cares for him while his injured leg and memory loss heal. Can Alexi trust Jake or is he part of the bear clan wars that Alexi fled? This fairly gentle story focuses almost solely on the growing relationship between the two main characters. I found the clan wars back story really interesting and wished there had been flashbacks for both characters to give us more insight into them and the world they inhabit. Although I easily adjusted to Gabriel Penn’s pleasant narration, it felt read rather than performed.
