From a family steeped in poverty the only way to survive is with street smarts. With a father who steals for a living, a grandmother who's a woman of the night and a mother long dead, Georgina was never in for an easy life. But after a tragic event left her father shaken he makes a decision that will change the course of all their lives - to raise Georgina as George, ensuring her safety but marking the start of her life of crime....

Surprising Brilliant
This was a free book. I listened to the sample and thought I'd download and give it a go. I hadn't heard of the author before so I left the book a while till I'd ran out of credits. It was brilliant. Sad in parts funny in others and overall a good listen. I'll now be looking at the author's other works and no doubt will be using up my next credit.

Good old fashioned London gangland bust up.
I love this genre, so reading Trickster was 'right up my street'.
Born at the beginning of World War One, Georgina Garret's life doesn't get off to the best of starts. Her beloved Mother dies, giving birth, leaving her to be brought up by her Father, Jack, a notorious thief.
He soon realises that the only way to keep poverty from the door is to train George to slip through the windows of the wealthy over the other side of London.
They live off their ill-gotten gains until Jack gets caught and serves a short prison sentence.
Without the protection of her father, George soon makes an enemy or two.
I loved this book, and I've just bought the next one, Rivals.

One tough Cookie
George/Georgina the heroine of this tale has been through a lot and means business. She goes around as a boy after a terrible incident which meant her Dad taught her to box and he trains her in the art of lifting stuff to sell on. There is a lot of criminal activity and George can hold her own. After several attempts on her life and a vicious beating George once recovered decides to become Georgina. So much happens and book 2 is set up nicely to see Georgina emerge, I cannot wait.
