About this listen
TERRIFIED...
It was supposed to be a harmless camping trip. Six wayward teenagers who'd run into trouble with the law, and their court-appointed guardians, Sara and Martin Randhurst. Three nights on a small, deserted island off of Michigan's upper peninsula. A time to bond, to learn, to heal.
Then Martin told a campfire story about the island's history. Of the old civil war prison hidden in there, and the starving confederate soldiers who resorted to cannibalism to stay alive. Everyone thought it was funny. They even laughed when Martin pretended to be dragged off into the woods.
But Martin didn't come back. And neither did Sara when she went in search of him.
Then the laughter stopped.
...TO DEATH
The group soon began to realize that this deserted island wasn't so deserted after all. And perhaps Martin's ridiculous story had more truth to it than anyone thought.
What's the most horrifying thing you can imagine?
This is a hundred times worse...
TRAPPED by Jack Kilborn
It starts where other horror ends
A Word of Warning
This is the long-awaited follow-up to AFRAID, one of the most horrifying books ever written.
Originally scheduled to be released in paperback in 2010, the publisher read the first version of the manuscript and refused to release it. The author made extensive changes, rewriting much of the story. The publisher still refused.
This is a disturbing, terrifying book. You may think you're brave enough to handle it. But you're probably not...

Like the first person to write a review for this book,i totally agree please can we have a film Mr Kilborn?
This was a fantastic story, and you do in fact pull faces yourself when the torture begins.
Before this i did listen to his other book Endurance, and loved that so much i checked the author out,and found Trapped which was just as good,if you have a strong stomach go for it a great read and great narrator.

I wish this book could be made into a film..
From the offset, the book offers up vibrant characters, oodles of suspense, bloodshed and a fair serving of gore without the need for being too graphic or offensive. With a mad doctor, feral cannibals, sadistic psychotics and enough torture to make you almost imagine the pain; this story is fast paced and often left me frustrated and wanting more each time when I had to take a break. The last few hours of the book are absolutely amazing and the build up towards the end with so many twists and turns was incredible.
Even though I would categorise the thoughts of the authors as being "very disturbed", I thought this story was amazing and by far my best read of 40+ books in the last two years. If only this could be made into a film, the storyline would easily stand on par with the likes of Hostel2 and Saw etc. Brilliant book, read (listen to) it!!

Yep... I was scared!
This book is just brilliant. Just what I want from reading... I just want something that will take me away and be truely horrified by (but of course just in the fictitious sense) and keep me enterained and in suspense with good old escapism.
The book starts and BAM... action and suspense throughout which does not slow down until you have read the last word. Yes, I liked all the characters and whilst some scenes were difficult to read it was of course made quite 'silly' in the sense you knew this was not at all a true story or even trying to be.
Definitely read if you like page turning, actiona and horror and true fight for survival. If you are sqeamish at all then I would not recommend!

Oh Lordy...
You know when you pick up a Kilborn/Konrath your in for a bumpy ride and this doesn't disappoint as it's got the lot. Gore, violence, humour, teenagers plus a whole lot more..all come mixed up in Trapped. Read/listen to it, enjoy it and don't take it seriously.
Just enjoy the ride.
Brilliant.

Original horror
This should probably be classed as "black comedy" as well as horror to avoid disappointment from people who like their horror serious and sinister. Kilborn's style is to throw at you as much gore and as many disgustingly painful ways of killing people as possible but in a darkly humorous way. I laughed out loud at several points and rather than detract from the horror, it makes it even better.
This is the third Kilborn audiobook I've downloaded and he is definitely a bit obsessed with cannibalism, people who are deformed or physically different (like being super tall) and people who are mentally unstable. I found this novel quite similar to Endurance, and I think Endurance does it a bit better. I don't think the pacing of Trapped is quite as good as it takes a while to really get going and then there isn't really a building of tension.
One thing I have really enjoyed about Kilborn's books is that the characters are very original and not the usual horror stereotypes. He seems to like using strong female protagonists to fight the bad guys and doesn't just use them as fodder - that's a refreshing change. However I found Sarah quite uninspiring as a heroine in Trapped. I much preferred the characterisation of Tyrone and Cindi and my biggest disappointment with this is that we didn't spend more time with Georgia, who was fascinating and entirely unique. In a way I think it's a shame she was a bit part in a novel and didn't get to star in her own.
I can see from the other reviews that I'm not the only one who thought "this would make a good movie" while I was listening. Hopefully some movie makers will see our reviews!

Gripping
I downloaded this book expecting an average read. How wrong was I? It had a gripping story line and I got really attached to the good guys and was really routing for them to survive the ordeal. I recommend this book for anyone who likes to be scared to the core at what a person can do to another person. I was also just as impressed at the bravery of one person and what they would do to rescue another. I didn’t want this book to end.

ridiculous rubbish
I purchased this title after reading the reviews and quickly discovered I'd made a huge mistake. The story is ridiculous, almost comical and the writing lazy and fatuous. It just goes to show how much taste can vary from one person to the next (pun unintended). The story sounded promising and I was excited at the prospect of finding a good thriller/horror writer. Oh the disappointment!
The only redeeming feature of this listening experience is the narrator. I would happily buy another audiobook narrated by him.
